Amazing 250 million year old lava rocks in a beautiful red color. The teensy tiny road meanders through it, but beware of big busses and trucks! There are also nice hiking paths that start right outside of Piana. There is a nice little cafe at the north end where you can look at the nice view.

Drove along this road, while relocating from Calvi to Ajacco. The views are breathtaking, but the road is really very narrow. There are some wider spots for taking pictures, but not enough of them taking into account the number of cars passing here in high season. The major problem is that the traffic here is open for full-size touristic buses. If such a bus encounters a trailer, coming from the opposite direction, you can be stuck... So my advice is to allow more time on this route. The car navigators are always too optimistic.

This was a recommendation from our local contact. Pozzines are a unique landscape, very low green grass, just as if it was freshly mown, with small torrents running trough it and grazing animals on it. Pozzines on Plateau de Coscione can be found at the altitude of 1500m. Not easy to get there as there is no raod sign to Coscione. From Quenza, take a small climbing road going to the ski station. The ride is more than 30mn. You can find, half-way on the road, "Chez Pierrot" (this will confirm that you are not actually lost :-). Road is not in a good state (quite narrow, drive carefully) but causes no problem in summer. You can park at the ski station and start the walk from there. Place is almost desert and the numerous wild pigs are the kings of the place. Expect a drop of emperature at this altitude so adequate clothing must be planned. Et voilà, enjoy !

Nature at its best. A must see when visiting Corse. Absolutely stunning. Lots of boat tours to visit this nature reserve. Or just hire your own boat to enjoy this enchanting place.

I'd read that Bonifacio was at the top of the list of tourist hot spots, so maybe I was expecting something more magical.
It's obviously an attractive area and formations, but it's popularity does make it suffer from both high expectations and easy access.
Despite it being a Monday night in September, Bonifacio was so bury, we had to take the ferry to Santa Teresa to get a room for the night. However this turned out to be a bonus, as the views from the ferry were excellent.

Great walk to a ruined hilltop village, currently being restored. Wear good walking shoes and be aware that it starts at the town of Lumio just out of Calvi, we kept walking up the hill through a gate and then down through beautiful stone walled path, this part took about an hour, it is stunning and worth it, it brings you back to Lumio, but just down from where the walk starts at hotel Chez Charles

After a hot day on the beach we decided to give this place a try. It was recommended by some Austrian friends who know this area well. It didn't disappoint. We followed the main road until we came to a small campsite an bar with places for parking. From there it was a 2 minute walk to the river and a nice big pool of cool water to get immersed in. There are lots of rocks so bring decent shoes.
There are various places to see the river but this seemed a good one. The area is beautiful and you could spend a few hours here. The local bar did burgers and fairly simple food but it looked pretty good.

Perched high on the cliffs overlooking the port, the Citadel has all the charm you might expect from this very old town. there are some amazing views to be had, but be aware that the town does get very busy.
It's a tough climb from sea-level, so you might like to consider the mini-train that runs from the harbour area and will take you right into the heart of the Citadel

We walked up from Calvi, it's a pretty easy walk which starts near the Citadel you just follow the yellow marks or there may be a sign which says ND de la Serra and it takes about 45 minutes but allow an hour so you don't miss the sunset. If in doubt about the route just ask at the tourist information.
Once you reach the chapelle have a wander around inside the walls and enjoy the view but in order to see the sunset, as you walk away from the chapelle down the steps you will see directly in front of you a rocky outcrop quite high up about 100 metres away. Follow the track up to the top of the rocks, crack a beer open and sit on the rocks and watch the sun disappear into the ocean. Awesome!!
