Al tratarse de una Taberna y no contar con salón-comedor no tenemos servicio de reservas.De todas formas, vengan que les haremos un hueco en cualquier rincón. Disculpen las molestias
Another great recommendation from the Apartments where we were staying. Visited Casa Manteca twice - once for a lazy late lunch and then for a food on a Saturday night.
Good range of traditional tapas, popular with locals and visitors alike.
We sat outside at a barrel when we went for tapas on a Friday afternoon - very chilled, we could take our time and linger. Saturday evening is a different atmosphere altogether - full of hustle and bustle, lots of wonderful chatting and elbow to elbow at the bar (if you can get that close!).
Bullfighting memorabilia covers the walls, there is plenty to feast your eyes on between tapas. Especially loved the Chicharrones (preferred the fritos to the special ones) and the Mojama Tapa with Tomato - the waiters were rushed off their feet but still had time to help explain what was what to us, and to check we were happy.
And with chilled white wine at Euro 1,70 a glass....well, what's not to like?!

Sister restaurant of the well known El Faro in the centre of Cadiz
Keeping up with traditions El Chato delivers in all ways
Professional and attentive service...beach location....attractive and comfortable setting....and great cuisine.
Menu isn't overly extensive but covers all ...
All starters are just mouth watering ( Tortillitas de Camarones are a speciality ) and the freshness of the main courses are without question.
Personally I tend to err towards fish at this restaurant.
Truly a must if you are visiting Cadiz or as a treat if you live locally

Ate here twice and really enjoyed it. Menu a bit different from most of the spanish restaurants so a pleasant change. A big benefit is that the kitchen is open much earlier than most so no waiting until 8.30pm for dinner.

Gluten free
We ate outside on a beautiful August evening - theres Seating in the lovely square outside the restaurant. The food was superb - inventive and beautiful to look at and at a fair price.
Highly recommended
ps looked a bit spartan ... try to sit outside!

I find it hard to get good vegetarian options in many Spanish restaurants but La Candela is a perfect exception.
The choices are interesting and delicious. We had 3 dishes; A goat’s cheese salad with an exceptionally tasty dressing, vegetable tempura with Soy mayonnaise and slow-roasted vegetables with garlic vinaigrette. Along with the bread basket this was an ample dinner for the two of us. And when the bill came we were blown away! €28 for us both and that included 2 glasses of wine each.
It’s a busy place so we had to sit at the bar which was fine and gave us a good view of the chefs preparing all that great food in the open kitchen.
Staff are all really friendly and chatty too. Definitely worth a visit for both meat-eaters and vegetarians alone.

Tapas bar small but you can eat very well. There are usually quite a few people but it is not a place where customers stay for a long time to find a place in a short time. We have many products gluten free and lactose free. Market food and lots of grilled fish. The kitchen open from 12:30 to 16:00 and after from 20:00 to 22:30.
We've discovered thus place due to Trip Advisor recommendation. It doesn't look impressive, we've received food reheated in microwave due to hour (the kitchen was closed), but what an excellent food it was! Reasonable prices, must try!

Having read the TA reviews we searched for this tapas restaurant but we disappointed not to find it... we had not noticed that it was closed for several days... However, we enjoyed La Candela our second choice.... maybe it was meant to be....
Unfortunately, there is no way to rate this experience.... maybe we will return to Cádiz...

Restaurant closed for vacation from Dec. 18th to Dec. 27th, 2017.

Restaurant Open on Dec. 6th and 8th, 2017 from 1.30pm to 3.30pm and from 8.30pm to 11.30pm

The Candelaria Restaurant is located in the northern part of Cadiz, in a lovely square that gives its name to the local. In it, you can savor traditional Italian cuisine sincere thanks to homemade fresh pasta and pizzas baked their draft. Greeted with a familiar treatment, the Italian cuisine shows its full potential in the Candelaria Restaurant. You can accompany food with good Italian wine and microbrews. A place where you can also make good drinks and cocktails with your people and on the outdoor Terrace when the weather permits.
One of the lady staffs holds a grumpy face like we own her a big deal. Pasta was not well cooked either. Wine is bad too. Don't understand the 4.5 star.... pizza is ok though.

We really loved our evening here. A beautifully run family business. Small, but great character and really personal. A great vibe, superb service and tasty tapas. The best tapas we’ve had in the week we spent in Cádiz and gluten friendly for my partner (even had gluten free beer). Would thoroughly recommend this bar, but get there early. It fills up quickly!

Yesterday, me and my family visited this place for breakfast. A lady, who was serving the tables outside, was serving everyone who spoke Spanish, but not us, although we were sitting with small baby of 3 years old, who was starving. My husband asked for several times to give us a menu and she completely neglected us. It was so rude, because she was not even answering and continued to serve Spanish speaking people, who even came later than us. We spent 25 min there and left. I wish her family and her kids to feel the same, when her kid will be crying when hungry. I don't advise this restaurant to anyone.
