17fuffzig was the last of three Michelin starred restaurants in three different countries in which we had dined over a one-week period; although it carried the fewest stars, it was the best overall experience. The service was both professional and cheerful, and our waiter took great pride in his selection of German wines for us. Though skeptical when informed we'd be drinking a German red with our meat course, we were very pleasantly surprised by his choice. The food consisted of delicious and edible (rather than merely beautiful) takes on familiar favorites; the first of six courses was a creme brulee of foie gras paired with a tart, truffle-scented salad and an excellent German Riesling, and it was probably the best use of foie gras I've seen. Dessert was a pear and pistachio strudel with ice cream. The decor was comfortable rather than fussy or stuffy, but the restaurant was separated from the smoking lounge by a mere curtain, and the smoke definitely had a negative impact on the experience. In fact, our clothes still smelled strongly of stale smoke the next morning.

Our Kräutermühlenhof Burg (Spreewald) consists of a restaurant, a bed & breakfast with 15 double rooms and an event location for weddings and other parties. All of these are located right next to Burg's beautiful park. The word "Kräutermühle" is German for "Mill of herbs" because in our restaurant we try to re-invent local dishes with freshest ingredients and all kinds of herbs and spices.
We stayed at the Kräutermühle over the weekend and it was a great time. The room was perfect for us and our little ones, very clean and nicely set up. The playground right next to the hotel was just perfect. The kids were also entertained by the water Fountain right at the hotel entrance. The Kräutermühle is very centrally located in Burg, providing access to several other restaurants and cafes. The hotel restaurant also has a very good and tasty local offering. In addition to the hotel, the area offers great nature, pony riding, boat tours, etc. We loved our Spreewald visit!

If you like good local food go to the Biergarten of the restaurant Hafeneck. Especially, the local speciality "Spreewald- Gurken/ Spreewald Cucumber" as a started will be a big positive surprise.... Enjoy

Let's start: the Kolonieschänke is not bad, it simply does not fulfill its promises.
Imagine a great place with organic food coming from well-know and highly regarded places. Take on top a well restore house in the Spreewald. Add an interesting carte, which unusually for Germany focuses on menus.
Your expectations are high (like the prices). And you will be disappointed. The execution (a.k.a. the skills of the cook) is at best intermediate.
Overpromise, underperform = 2/5 (the quality of the ingredients rescues one point)

Nice outdoor setting. Wine list very limited. Wife ordered fried catfish, got it baked in a cream sauce. Desserts the same. A so called mousse that had the consistency and taste of a blob of yogurt. Service gives new meaning to slow. I just don't know how else to rate it.

A really italian restaurant in the middle of Spreewald. I find it as one of the bests italian restaurants from Germany. The kitchen ist served by genuine italien cooks. I could recommend the "antipasti" with a nice combination of tastes. We have eaten also pasta and pizza and all have a sensational authentic italian flavor.

1000 Dank

Just a short sit down & enjoy some local, cafe, ice-cream & a little bit salty to eat. The local special is absolutely cucumber (Gurken) which you can buy almost everywhere. At this small restaurant those tarts was a speciality, among ice cream. Cafe's like this must be very popular during warm summer season. People are walking, bicycling, driving around the beautiful surroundings. This is one good stop place.

It is always a pleasure to stop to eat at the Spreewald Therme.
As the name tells you, it is the restaurant of the baths of Burg. So do not expect a cosy atmosphere. It will be nice, but it remains in the entrance atrium.
This was the only real criticism.
Now to the real positive points. It is healthy and tasty, the prices are fair.
The ingredients are around herbs and vegetable of the region and well prepared and well presented.
You always get a little more than you expected... Actually it is the definition of a great performance
