Remote Bhutan first allowed the world a peek inside in 1974. With four millennia of habitation, the Himalayan kingdom offers a trove of archaeological treasures, including many ornate temples and dzong fortresses. Isolation has preserved the heavily Buddhist-influenced culture of the last Shangri-La.

It was great to have a break from the local cuisine (although you could order classic Bhutanese chili cheese on your pizza, if you'd like) by stopping for lunch at the Seasons Restaurant. The pizzas are quite good, with wonderfully crispy crusts. We had six people at lunch, so we were able to try several flavors, and they were all excellent.

We booked our stay from 8th november to 12th November at Hotel Norbuling without any kind of meal. We thought that we should have breakfast at 'The Zone' a 5 minutes walk from the hotel in Chang Lam. We went there on 8th morning at 10 am. to find the Restaurant is closed. We waited and waited, First couple of Ladies turned up and few minutes later a gentleman came and opened the lock of the entrance. It was 11am and we were told they would require another 45 minutes to serve anything. Breakfast at 12 noon!!.We read so much about this restaurant that we back again at 3:30 and ordered Pizza. It was really good. It was a cheese pizza with chicken half side the other half side was with Bacon. I asked whether pepperoni is available, the Lady asked me wait few minutes and promptly brought a plate full of fried pepperoni. I asked why this famous restaurant opens so late in the morning. The lady replied that they have to work till midnight everyday. The ambience inside is very good. Outside Terrace is very dirty with dirty tables etc.

Tucked in a corner (with slightly shady entrance) in the city, this is a fantastic place to go for a local Bhutanese meal. We ordered:
1. Beef momos which were absolutely mouth watering)
2. A chicken appetizer which resembled chicken poppers, also very well made
3. A soupy home made noodle dish with chunks of pork in it - exactly what you need on a cold night. The flavor may not work for everyone but definitely try it out.
They have a full fledged bar and seems to be a popular place to hang out for youngsters,

Stopped for lunch while sightseeing in Thimphu. Didn't order any food but after about 5 minutes dishes began to arrive and never seemed to stop. There were about 6 vegetarian dishes - spinach, two mushroom dishes, broccoli, mixed veg, plus soup noodles and rice
All the food tasted good, there was just too much!

Ask any of the local shops in Paro about Sonam Trophel Restaurant and i am sure anyone can direct you since its a small town.
It was bit difficult to locate this restaurant, could not easily find it, proper boarding should have been kept. (Its there, but not so easily identifiable)
Restaurant is in first floor.
Food was good though, (Did not find as extraordinary ) we been there for dinner,
Ambience was good.
would recommend.

It was only restaurant in dochula pass, so they charge anything for just cup of tea Rs..60. Any not much option to eat, just pastries and cakes. And they take pre-booking for breakfast.

We were residence of the hotel and thought the food great quality, on a par with top restaurants in London. Our only disappointment was that they ran out of apple pie on our last evening. Would highly recommend the porridge with rhubarb before you trek to Tigers Nest - delicious.

Located in a peaceful environment, we offer a variety of dishes including traditional Bhutanese meals and also have provision for outdoor barbecue and cultural programs.
We went there for dinner. The restaurant is well-decorated with lots of motorbike models and table-settings is elegant. Ambience is cosy. However I found the food oily and salty. We had soup, broccoli, fish, noodle, meat, carrot stir fried with yellow pepper.

During our three nights at Paro we visited this lovely cafe twice. The first time we had the time to “take away” a chocolate tart (the only one vegan option). The second time we stopped for the coffee (cappuccino & macchiato). Both of them were very good.
Friendly service, good coffee, excellent bakery (our friends had and enjoyed a black forest tart, walnut pie, apple pie).
A free WiFi was very slow and then it died.
Brioche Café is a great place to have a coffee break in Paro, however a little bit expensive for Bhutan.
