Doooars is a lovely forest area along with Bhutan border visit. We have been to many Forests however dooars remains our best for reason it is spread into different clusters and each forest is fresh and different to another.
Jaldapara for amazing elephant safari.
Gorumara and chapramari for jeep safari along with a lovely time on the river.
Hollong for its scary feeling at night when u are inside the lodge and surrounded with many animals and you are watching them eat salt from your window.
Please stay only at wbfdc and west Bengal tourism cottages to really enjoy as they are located best along with full priority over Safaris.

The forest is indeed lovely just that there aren't many Safaris going each day and also no information is available....
Could be made into a happening and one of the best tourist attractions if cared the by the tourism department....
The only saving grace here were the locals who were what's very supportive and cooperative....
We enjoyed our stay overall...

We took the 6am safari and cud only see the Bison, some birds n peacock. There are villages within the forest reserves...There are some resorts within the forest. Overall the drive is ok .

Japan time is called the Queen of Doors. It has hills,jungle and river.WBFDC ,PWD and CESC running cottages here.Basic option, but if you want to see Jungle roaming experience visit Japan time forest along with KUNIA WATCH tower and BASTION WATCH TOWER. You can see Elephants roaming here and there, Leonards, Byson. STILL away from brushing tourists. From Alipurduar it is only 18 kms

Go and spend time enjoying the breeze and landscape from the land if you want to but DON'T DO THE BOAT RIDE
Just 1 boat that Ferries a bunch of passengers for 30-40 mins. Nothing to sight absolutely!! Not even the breeze when you are on the ride.
Cabbie who took us to buxar jayanti trip wanted to make extra bucks and took us here, wasted time, took additional money

Picture shows the gate that once used to be the entry to the Rajbari (palace). Now the palace is in a dilapidated condition. The things to visit is the Gate, the Kali temple on the other side of the road and the huge Dighi (pond) which is still trying to draw a balance between the nature and the development of the city.

The maximum no of wild life i have spotted in Chilapata Forest among all others in Dooars. Have been to Dooars quite a few times, but this is best one. And if you get to stay at Mendabari Jungle Camp then its an added attraction. The nearly vanishing fort will engage your attraction.
