Earthly Pleasures Café is Belgrave's iconic gem, hidden by a lush garden, right in the middle of town. The building's impressive 20-foot high bluestone walls warrant a heritage listing, but today the café's mandate is modern. Earthly Pleasures has built its reputation on ethically sourced produce and small batch roasted artisan coffee that meets Melbourne's highest standards of coffee. The generously-portioned meals are made from scratch - everything from chutneys, pestos and homemade cakes. And the local craft beers and boutique wines impress the locals, while also drawing the inner city crowd to the hills. Built in the 1930s by the Jorgensen family (famous also for later building Montsalvat in Eltham) Earthly Pleasures moonlights as a function venue at night. If the walls could talk, they'd speak of bohemian parties starring the beatnik artistic community of mid-century Victoria. Whatever time of day you're in Belgrave, Earthly Pleasures is a must see It's the perfect place to dine or pop in for a drink before exploring the Belgrave streetscape, Puffing Billy, Trees Adventure or any of the beautiful national parks within a bluestone's throw.
A lovely venue but the service is terrible. Waited over 45 mins for a burger and a BLT. The almond milk latte was revolting- it was curdled and the waitress tried to convince me it was supposed to be like that because it was almond milk - ummmmm - no ! I sent it back and had to have a milk latte instead. Disappointing. Not a lot of menu options - basic breakfasts and lots of vegetarian options but only one meat burger - and no chips on the menu at all.

Authentic Indian Cuisine. All of our ingredients are selected to enhance and complement our extensive menu selections. We only use fresh vegetables and greens, top grade lean meats, a blend of local and imported spices and cholesterol free oil. All dishes are cooked a-la-carte.
Have been at Saffron Cottage before but this is the first time at their new location, which is smaller but comfortable just the same. It is an interesting venue with non Indian music played in the background. Personally I would have enjoyed Indian music as it would have lent more to the atmosphere.
We had for an appetiser the calamari dish and it was the start of good things to come. Aloo Gobi for a main and this is a very tasty vegetarian dish. The top of the pops was the pistachio ice cream with a dash of strawberries. It made the night worthwhile. Nothing too heavy in the tummy and an enjoyable evening overall.
If there are any issues then it might be the longish time for the meals to appear in the first instance but if you get quality, then the wait is worthwhile. Overall we spent $155 for three people which included the $37 bottle of wine. It is a BYO too.

Four of us lunched at the McCawber Tavern recently. On a chilly Melbourne day, this was a welcome refuge. Fitted out like a old English tavern, with horse brasses, open fire, a central bar and good pub food. Obviously a favourite spot as it was crowded. An extensive menu, there was something for everyone, kids menu too. Live music added to the atmosphere. It wouldn't have taken much persuasion to settle in for the afternoon !

Visited for light lunch 27/02//2018. Atmosphere bright, comfortable, aircon inside, tables in outside courtyard.
Meal very enjoyable, and did not put a hole in my pocket.
The staff..........Absolutely top notch. The 3 ladies on duty were so helpful, friendly, and made everyone feel like an old friend, and so welcome. Top marks.
Olinda is a small village in Dandenong Ranges, quaint arts and craft shops and cafes.
Busy on weekend, so I suggest visiting during the week to avoid the crowd.

Popped in for Sunday Brunch. Almost full house we got the last booth table in the back corner. Even though the staff were rushed off their feet the service was quick and friendly. We both had bacon, eggs, hash brown and toast with coffee. Simple meal just like home cooked very tasty and the coffee was also great. We read an interesting old history of trains book while we waited. Loved the wall murals and luggage racks. Needs a big of a freshen up but sill a great place to eat as always. Worth a visit.

A destination restaurant set in seven acres of landscaped Gardens with views over the Yarra Valley. Modern Australian food with a hint of nostalgia from the past. The 90 year old weatherboard property has recently been restored, celebrating its glorious history of entertaining since the 1920's. Enjoy the light filled restaurant floor overlooking the Gardens, the lounge rooms next to open fires in winter or the private dining room for special events and weddings. Adrian the chef prides himself on both growing and making, follow a produce to plate philosophy, tending his veggies in our extensive growing areas which guests can walk around. Don't forget a visit to the spring if you feel like a longer walk, and book our outdoor dining tables during the summer months. Enjoy locally sourced wines, home made breads, butters and ice-cream! Amanda or one of our team look forward to welcoming you to Coonara Springs.
Our 45 minute drive to Olinda, especially the last 15 Klms, was particularly beautiful with many ferns amongst the dense trees. Arriving at the restaurant we see wonderful Gardens with sunlight glistening through various trees; pockets of shaded Seating options offering tranquil views across rolling hills. Indeed a gorgeous setting.
The restaurant itself is a lovely old cottage converted- large foyer with lots of art and chandeliers welcoming us - tables are set in a covered verandah giving a vista over the Gardens. The original kitchen is restored and gives the front of kitchen area an old world feel.
The menu is one you would find at a fine dining establishment with prices to match (entrees +$20 and mains all +$30). However the service, staff and quality of food warrant the tag of being fine dining. The wine list had a good selection.
I found it a bit xx'y for weekday lunch and the downside was no air conditioning on a +40 degree day. The weather stopped us from a wander through the Gardens.

We had the Grilled Chicken salad :w/quinoa, semi dried tomatoes, pumpkin, assorted seeds and nuts, goats cheese baby spinach & tzatziki. My wife had too look at the description again, as the plate didn't match, it was very defined, a bit of a jumble, and lots of a couple of ingredients. Mine - Warm Moroccan Lamb salad - w/roasted vegetables, baby spinach, caramelised onions tomato, buttered potatoes and dukkah spices. Though nice in parts, it would have been nice to add on the description actually how hot the dukkah was, as dukkah's can range, and this was hot. Staff seemed happy to stand behind bar and chat to each other.

Discovered this fantastic Indian restaurant in the funky little township of Belgrave over Easter weekend when we were up there for a convention.
Belgrave itself is a cool little town with free range butcher and lots of organic-y shops. But this restaurant and its proprietor Raj was just the best.
The meat was so tender and the curries so flavoursome that I just think it's going to be a disappointment the next time I eat Indian. There's Indian and there's Indian. Nice atmosphere too and great service. We told Raj we had time constraints and he was right onto it.
I'm greatly looking forward to going back there next year and highly recommend this place.

Two hearty vegetarian rolls served with tasty relish and fresh salad. Two coffees and one excellent, generous portion of home-made espresso chocolate cake. All food enjoyed.
Water available.
"Grunge" name suits the venue; as the table surfaces and cushions are a bit grubby.
Marcia Hines LP playing at the time of our visit. A shelf of LPs at hand for staff selection to play on turntable in the back of the cafe.
