The first thing I have to say is that the setting is simply stunning. It boasts amazing views during the activity course that make it completely worth it, even for someone with a fear of heights!
I've previously done the course at Arthur's seat; it was cramped, not challenging and clearly targeted towards short, young kids. The course at Belgrave was significantly better in every way; there was a wide range of difficulty levels, I wasn't uncomfortable or forced to contort my body in awkward ways, there was scenic views and more choice available.
10/10 would highly recommend!

PUFFING BILLY OPERATES DAILY EXCEPT CHRISTMAS DAY. Puffing Billy is Australia’s favorite steam train and one of the finest preserved steam Railways in the world. This century-old steam train continues to run on its original mountain track from Belgrave to Gembrook in the magnificent Dandenong Ranges 40kms east of Melbourne. Puffing Billy was built to serve at the turn of the century and is a genuine relic of our more leisurely days. The Railway is the major survivor of four experimental lines used to develop rural areas in the early 1900s. Puffing Billy Railway is now a major tourist attraction and operates every day except Christmas Day, thanks to the tireless efforts of more than 900 dedicated volunteers.
The coach there was over an hour late to pick up and so we missed the morning part of tour the train was ready on arrival so we loaded quickly only to have another group crammed on so crowded and unable to see or enjoy trip very crowded at drop off and an extended hike to our coach and a painfully delayed return very disappointing all round

We went on the Great Ocean Road tour with Brian and had a great day!
The whole process was easy from the beginning to the end, and Brian stayed on top form throughout the whole day, providing commentary all along the journey - he has an encylopediac knowledge about Australia and the GOR, and kept us interested and entertained the entire journey.
You can tell a lot of thought has gone into the planning of the day, no detail was too small - the type of tea, the australian snacks, the planned toilet stops (ensuring they were new, clean and regular!), and even a roadside stop to stargaze on the way home - everything about the tour added to make the day thoroughly enjoyable.
Lots of stops, and time spent at the stops was plentiful and not at all rushed.
The food was excellent, (great variety to choose from!) in great restaurants, far better than most other tours I have been on!
Would definitely use TWAD again, it feels like a very personal experience, what with the small group sizes and the amount of thought that goes into the day.

I love this beautiful old movie theatre and try and get there at least once a week usually on a Tuesday as the pricing is so good.
I have had a cameo members card for years and years and it's great value for money with a better atmosphere than the big V theatres ie at Knox.
Recommend to anyone if fact I was there tonight with two friends who had never been there before and they were both very impressed.

Birdsland is a 75ha bushland reserve located in Belgrave South. The reserve is home to many native animals and birds, including platypus. Birdsland is a great spot for a picnic or bush walk, with it's walking tracks, BBQ's and 28ha retarding basin. There is also an environmental education centre on site where our Environment team share important information about conservation and sustainable living with local school children.Park opens at 7.30am daily. Closing times vary seasonally, please check signs at park entrance for closing time.
We recently discovered Birds Land Reserve and have enjoyed our walks and seeing the water birds, pied cormorants, moorhens, swamp hens, ducks, Australasian grebe, egret in tree and the magnificent Australian Darter males, and juvenile, plus butcherbird, new Holland honeyeater crimson rosella, mudlark, and the beautiful kookaburras close up.
Our only disappointment was walking through the wetlands, boardwalk, one very small patch of water over grown and no sign of life.
A great place to go, relaxing walk, meet owners and their dogs and taking photos.
When hubby's knee is better we will venture the steep climb to see the birds of prey and Melbourne.

one of the best places to see orchids in Australia. growing up near the grampians one of the highlights of the year as a bushwalker was the orchid season in spring. this place allows me to pass on my love of nature now I live in Melbourne with kids. easy to get too with great interpretative boards that give great info on orchids. anytime of the year is a great time to visit but spring is the best. also has an amazing array of birdlife in reserve

Belgrave South Community Market runs every 1st Sunday of the month from 10:30am to 3:30pm at Gilmore Court, Belgrave South, it is a place where you can still find goods crafted with individuality and flair and where there is a beguiling mix of charm and that community belonging where one can definitely felt at ease among the stall holders. The market has a huge range of goods for sale, a hunting ground for authentic art and craft, design, handmade, vintage inspired, eclectic wares, great food, and heaps of kids entertainment. It certainly provides a myriad of activities to suit each individual preference. Every stalls in the market highlights the community with very distinct life of its own.
This is a perfect place of a getaway to spend a leisurely Sunday morning with families or a group of friends to a more vibrant and appealing place where it has a rich history of natures.
