We were fully prepared to bash these guys because some of the reviews look suspicious.
But... it's actually true!
The Rechen has very honest, very tasty food in good portions and at a good price. We had Jägerschnitzel and Forelle Müllerin (traditional German Gasthof food), followed by a Kaiserschmarrn (indeed delicious). All in a relaxed environment and served with a smile. They also have a schnapps distilled locally (which we took home).
It was such a nice experience that we went back two days later and had the exact same dinner again :)
If you go early (around 7ish), make a reservation, the place was full on both nights we were there.

Welcome to our cosy Arbersee House! Located directly on the banks of the beautiful Lake Großer Arbersee, we are the perfect meeting point for all hikers and day trippers. Enjoy spectacular views of the lake from our welcoming sun Terrace and let us spoil you with the hearty meals and sweet treats typical of Bavarian cuisine. Let your thoughts wander in our cosy atmosphere as our friendly staff take care of your every need. Time for something hearty... Enjoy a wide variety of Bavarian delicacies in our rustic restaurant. Our hearty roast pork with dumplings and sauerkraut is freshly prepared each day according to a traditional Bavarian recipe. It's a real highlight for any lover of Bavarian food. A fresh beer from the Pfefferbrauerei Zwiesel brewery is perfect for washing down a delicious meal.
Nice location at the Arber lake. Prices are relatively high, food and service are average. The lake itself is nice but small, crowdy with hikers and overrated as destination. parking is expensive € 3.

It looks like german pub and it is very good restaurant. Indeed shocking, a few hundred meters by grubby czech restaurants in Zelezna Ruda is clear restaurant with the willing staff and good offer the delicious food. Don' t eat inside, but beyond limits !

Good traditional food , lots of meat, salads but they do not have any English translations of their menu which made ordering for those of us who are fussy quite difficult. There is no reason to expect English menus in Germany but it does encourage English travellers to stop there
Just outside is a beautiful lake and children's play area and best of all it is an ideal stop on local walks and cycle paths.
Well worthy visit.

Every time when I am going through Zelezna Ruda, I have to stop in there and get a coffee and cake. Cafe Charlotte is tiny, non-smoking, cake shop, with beautiful and cosy environment - full of old stuff, wooden chest of drawers, functional model of locomotive and huge stylish oven. Next to the cafe is huge parking spot. I always love the atmosphere.

We came to this restaurant with high expectations and thus were a bit disappointed, but if I compare this restaurant to the other places in Zelezna Ruda, I have to say that it is the best one we visited. It is completely non-smoking and has a nice cozy feeling with interesting interior decorations. The prices were a bit high as it was everywhere in Zelezna Ruda, but still reasonable. The food I had was ok, but my girlfriend was not that pleased. The waitress was quick and nice. So my recommendation would be to visit this restaurant after visiting few others to enjoy it more.

We had lunch here twice on our recent visit to Bodenmais. The pizzas were very good. I also tried a pasta dish which was good. Very generous portions. The staff were very friendly and remembered us.

It is a very average restaurant. Good soup, meat average taste and preparation. Side-dishes are a problem, especially doubtful baked potatoes and green beans disgusting. Not everything can be cooked in a frying pan with strange fat.
Staff at the lower level of capacity
The second place in Bayerisch Eisenstein? What for heavens are the other restaurants?!

We visited only restaurant of Hotel Ostry because we were looking for a place where to dine for more days of our stay in Zelezna Ruda. When we came nobody greet us, than we wait about 10 minutes till sbd came to ask what we will drink and eat. I asked for a vine and beef tenderloin without cranberries and whipped cream. My boyfriend decided after 5 minutes, and also ordered beef tenderloin because they were out of another dish he would choose rather than this. Vine seemed to me kind of watered.. Then waitress brought 2 beef tenderloin. Mine was with some remains of cream and the waitress apologised that the chef forgot not to put any cream and cramberries so she tried to get rid of cream with spoon. Disgusting. The plate for my boyfriend was totaly without cream and crenberries, but nobody apologised for that. These ingredients were in the menu and he did not say he does not want it. I will never visit this restaurant again.

A warm welcome to the Eisensteiner Hütte! Visit our cosy stop-off to experience the best service on the Großer Arber! Our rustic atmosphere and modern menu await. You can also take in the fantastic view of the Eisensteiner Valley and the idyllic spa town of Bayerisch Eisenstein.
Visited in March towards the end of the skiing season. This restaurant is situated on the Grosse Arber in the Nature Park of the Bayerischer Wald. Recently renovated, the restaurant is open all year round. Accessible by ski lift. From a party of four, three had the salad plate, and nobody was disappointed. The Dampfnudel is a specialty.
