At Bella Italia you will not be disappointed as it comes to food and service and value for your money. The menu has a wide variety of choice also people with allergies or vegetarians can enjoy a great meal here. Nice pastas, pizzas and also meat and fish dishes. They serve house wines but you can also choose from the 'recommended wines'.
The service is kind.
Lots of people know the way to this fine restaurant so most of the time it is really busy. I think in the weekends, it would be recommended to make a reservation.

We were looking for a place to have some dinner in Assen and found the De Port van Assen by chance. What a luck it was! The place is quiet comfortable and cosy. Our waitress was very lovely and helpful, gave some great recommendations about their food. We had some bread as starter (lots of mixed dips and warm bread - yum). For main we had mustard steak - to die for! That dinner was exceptional and even dear.
Once I am back in Assen I will be back there!

I had to get the barstaff in the bar to translate the menu for me and was astounded to find around 100 pizzas offered! I opted to talk to the staff to arrive at a favourite and they were helpful, polite and good humoured. Good service and a good pizza. Well done!

Visited with children and grandchildren and especially for the young ones, the buffet is excellent plus some children's entertainment is offered.
The buffet is well looked after and replenished regularly; even the fries were very good.
The other good thing is that it is not breaking the bank to take part in this offering, an all-in price of €32.50 per adult (yes, including (very good) house wine and lager) and a reduced price for the children.
We will return.

Touche serve a quite nice surprise menu (from 3 up to 7 courses ...). We enjoyed four courses with a fitting wine arrangement for a reasonable price for this quality. Could sit outside in teh setting sun for the first few hours, and spend more time inside. It was not very busy on a Sunday evening. Would have scored 5 out of 5 if not some dishes had been a bit cold ... the main dish, a nice Entrecote, was however served at nice temperatures. Service very pleasant, perhaps slightly insecure about the wines but no problem. Four hours passed very fast.

Since we leaved in India for a few years; we find this restaurant one of the few that serves authentic Indian cuisine.
Hubby and I have been going to this restaurant since 2008. Since we've lived in India (New Delhi) for four years before, we were in search for authentic Indian food when we arrived in Assen. This restaurant did not disappoint! We love the food and the owner is a really great guy who loves to chat each time he sees his 'regular patrons'.
The only thing to be aware of is that when they're full, the arrival of food gets delayed. This is because they make everything (including sauces!) from scratch. This has improved during our last visits though.

We were on the lookout for a ’quick bite’ while traveling. We hit on “Klein Paramaribo “ restaurant. It doubles as a take-out and restaurant. Seats were comfortable and the waitress’ reception friendly. The menu is a staple of Surinam food and not an endless list of choices which is fine. We took ‘roti’ which was tasty and hearty. Do not expect exceptional cuisine, but the food is made with care, love and that shows. The price – quality is good. We would have been fine without the (taped) music which is a weird mix of probably Surinam bands / singers that not always sing in key. The chef makes the difference and his personal approach makes you really feel at home. Adjacent parking is not possible, so be prepared to walk a few meters.

It was sunny lunchtime so the Terrace was very busy. But the service was still efficient and friendly. The menu was slightly more extensive than the usual lunchtime menu in the Netherlands. I had a "warm" salad with fillet steak pieces, which was perfectly cooked.

I can't say Yume is the best Sushi restaurant I've ever visited, but it certainly is an excellent place to have a good oriental dinner with the family. The service is friendly and the food is very tasty and quickly delivered. Unlimited orders for a set and reasonable price, everyone can select whatever they like from the menu. We will certainly be back another time.

We were in Assen for the British Super Bikes racing.
We were 5 men looking for euthentic Dutch food on our second night ...... even though two of us live in Amsterdam. The service was very friendly, in both Dutch and English language. We selected a variety of dishes...... I had pork rib, which I thought would be spare ribs.... WRONG.... it was a really nice pork chop as we English know it.
The prebvious evening we ate in the Frenche restaurant "Touche" which was next door........ then we were told that the two restaurants had the same owner. So..... French and Dutch cuisine to a high standard next door to each other....how good can that be. And the cost is not so bad.......Euro 45 pert head including beer and wine.
My friends also enjoyed their meal.
There are a good selection of wines...... and beers.
The previous evening we ate in the French restaurant next door...... superb food..... delicatley presented.
I highly recomend Assen for a weekend break..... a beautifil small town (although I was bullied into saying it is a City) with friendly people and a really nice central town square with small bars and restaurants of a high quality....
If you like motor cycle racing the local race track is the best in The Netherlands and the oldest in Europe.
The British Super Bike Championship was amazing...... meet the riders....... they are so relaxed.... yet so close to injury.
ENJOY
