Family run with intimate surroundings. The cook Dimmi lived in Singapore for 4 years working as a nurse in Bishan. She was ecstatic to learn I was from Singapore. Her daughter’s name is Dimali which is the restaurant’s name. When you first walk in, it seems like you are entering someone’s home, the family is gathered, laughing and talking welcoming you into their home. I sat facing the kitchen so you can actually see the women / Dimmi cook. I ordered the mee goreng with prawns which was generously portioned, bits of tomato, garlic and prawn including the shells. The mee goreng has Dimmi’s Sri Lankan twist on it. Juices have bottled water blended fruit. I find Sri Lanka expensive for what you get.

The giant lobster prawns were delicious but my husband’s chicken curry was very grissly. Service was terrible, there were only four tables eating and four waiters so you would have thought we’d get a lot of attention yet every time we would have to wave one down (after a few attempts) or even go to the bar ourselves to pick up an extra beer after waiting 10 mins after ordering one. Bearing in mind the restaurant was less than a quarter full I have no idea how they cope when it’s busier. The actual decor and setting is really nice though.

Having stayed next door to plantations I had breakfast and dinner here pretty much every day. The Standard Breakfast choices are delicious especially the porridge which fills you up after an early morning surf. Dinner is also really good you can order from a wide menu or for 500rp have a set dinner (order before 4pm) at the long table with the rest of the guests. This was always a great option, good food (especially the rice & curry) and very sociable with lots of friendly people so ideal when travelling alone.
The food and drinks are really good quality but the best thing about plantations is the staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and will go above and beyond to make sure you are looked after. Would thoroughly recommend. Thanks for a great stay Chattu & Family

The best koturotti so far, yes. But when we pay our 750 rkl bill, I gave the lady at the desk 850 rkl and looked around the corner to see my boyfriend. The woman then told me I gave her only 350 rkl. I am 100% sure I handed her all the money. All the men staff looked at me and I know that 500 rkl is not much but it really ruined the experience and pissed me off. Please, be aware while paying...

The restaurant is set outside the owner house in village. We went there with other friends. There was not much choice other than rice and curry. All the food was cold. 5 small shrimp with rice curry (900lkr). curry was reheated. Very bad foods experience in Weligama. People who know srilankan curries and real taste in srilankan cuisine.
Its not your place.

We stayed for ten nights at the Fortress but for 2 nights ate at the Stick Fisherman View, a welcome change to pretentious hotel food. Fantastic seafood, all super fresh and large portions! Super friendly staff and they take credit card payment. Get in!

Noodles, fried rice, kottu, Soup, devilled, fried potatoes, Fresh seafoods, fresh fruit juices, Hot pancakes, Western and traditional breakfast, Dessert and hot beverages.
I can agree with all of the positive reviews over here. Brilliant cooking lesson with exquisite tasting food.
Please note that it’s on the second level from the street. And sort of behind of the Thaprobal Pavillion Hotel. Alongside the road from Unawatuna beach towards the Jungle Beach.
However, I feel a bit sad since these people would need help to increase their business. Best to contact them in advance via their FB page if going there only to eat lunch/dinner. I highly recommend the cooking lesson!
I wish all the best to the 2 lovely ladies running the place.

Now open for lunches as well. Gave us the opportunity to taste the lagoon prawns, barracuda and snappers. Fresh prepared what you choose from the desk.
Unbelievable what they do in that small kitchen. Enjoy with your feet in the sand.
Bring your own alcoholic drinks.

This place was a huge disappointment and only went due to the tripadvisor reviews. Worst curry i had in Sri Lanka and probably the worst curry i have ever had. We ordered two curries. Everything but the curry sauce was freezing cold. The rice and dhal were stone cold and awful. Roti also terrible. The portion of chicken was so small and by far the smallest portion i have had in sri lanka. Especially when this place was not cheap. It also did not taste very nice. We barely ate the food which was very clear and the server did not even ask how it was.

Tiki Clifftop Bar is located above a cliff overlooking the beautiful Weligama Bay. We provide great service with excellent food. Everything is fresh and modestly priced. We also have great parties on Wednesdays and Fridays with perfect vibes. Come join us and relax! We look forward to seeing you!
We popped in for a drink after eating at Chef Akila’s next door. The bartender did not smile, and spoke only to say the price of our beers which were “served” in the cans. The toilet existed, and that is the best than can be...Moreextremely sorry for about you had bad time at tiki
