This museum is well set up, huge site which reflects the scale of the industry when it was in operation. Reception staff very good, admission is free, only draw back is the long walk to the site.

Main church in Żyrardów, and one of the biggest churches in Mazovia region, modeled on Votivkirche church located on the Ringstraße in Vienna, Austria (also cathedrals in east bank of Warszawa and in Białystok used the same project). Build at the end of 19th century, when Żyrardów was a massive and wealthy industrial estate, specialising in producing linen. Owner of the estate, Karol Dittrich Jr., offered money needed to built this temple, he also offered all bricks needed - they were made in Radziejowice, and brought to Żyrardów by steam narrow gauge trains - all owned by Dittrich. Thanks to that the newly built church fits the red bricked facades of the whole estate. Some stained glass in church is said to be made by Józef Mehoffer, one of Polish top people in such craft. One of the bells on the tower is so heavy it's never been used, as it's vibes are so strong they can destroy the tower.

It was 1829 when some wealthy people from Warszawa (Warsaw) decided to set up a new bussiness in linen. The capitol was a bit unsettled place those days, so they went to build a completely new settlement some 50 km west from Warszawa. The place got it's name from it's first engineer in charge, the French man Philippe de Girard, whose name sounds in Polish like Żyrard (-ów). First red-bricked building opened in 1833, followed by dozens of others, all built in the same technology, using red bricks, which is giving it a very distinguished look right to the present day. 1857 marks another milestone in developing of the industry in Żyrardów, as new owners - Austrian industrialers bought the estate, and quickly developped it into one of biggest manufactures in Europe. The period of growth ended up after WWI, even if there were still attempts to make it great again. After some years of being left disused parts of the complex are being new life given, in shape of shopping mall and new lofts in old factory buildings - all after carefully carried out reffurbishment. Local tourist office provides a map with trail linking all industrial remains. Car park available on the main square and surrounding streets (free during weekends and evenings).

This park was set up in late 19th century, as part of bigger planing and building activities carried out by industrialist Karol Dittrich Jr., who inherited Żyrardów estate after his father Karol August Dittrich. And Dittrich the father was the one who was the first owner of the estate, who made it into huge linen factory, who took care of his employees, and after whom this park is named. Refurbishment carried out in 2008 brought back this park to its former glory. The park was created in form of english landscape park, reffering to natural solutions. Many different ponds and little streams make lots of romantic spots. Small playground for little kids. Mansion in centre of park, build by Karol Dittrich Jr., now hosts a Museum of Western Masovia. Great spot for a while of relax during exploring Żyrardów.
