Yangshuo offers breathtakingly beautiful scenery, particularly along the hill-lined Li River, which you can tour by cruise boat or, if you’re feeling primitive, by bamboo raft. Streets in Yangshuo are kept in their original style, preserving the layout of the ancient city. Savory local specialties like beer fish and shatian shaddocks are served on West Street, one of the town's liveliest thoroughfares. Kids will adore the local butterfly cave.

It was around 1.5 hours of drive from Guilin downtown and the entrance fee was 60 CNY per adult.
The trail upward was rather steep but short. Reaching the top took only 10 minutes.
The scenery was spectacular, as everyone praised. My family especially appreciated that the scenic spot had 4 platforms at different heights so that we may watch the views at various angles.
Down at the entrance there were locals selling kumquats. A full bag cost 10 dollars.

Bamboo rafting and biking are the two major activities along Yulong River. However the charge of rafting is on the high side range to RMB300 per bamboo raft for around 30 minutes. Nonetheless the scenery along the route is beautiful. For youngsters, biking is another highlight for them as they can cycled through the rice fields and old villages. We visited the area after heavy rain and thus there was not much people around.

The hike is only half an hour if you are fit, it isn't even dangerous as others have said! Just a ladder on the way! The hike is pretty boring in the trees but as you get to the top it opens up and really is spectacular. Walk a little further passed the pagoda and onto the rocks near the tv tower and you will be blown away!

The area is great for cycling, especially along the river. There is a special cycling trail there. No cars are allowed there. There are a lot of beautiful photo opportunities!

Prefer Reed flute cave in Guilin to this cave. Good long stroll. Comes with a radio kit that explains the various structures as you walk, which makes the visit more interesting.
Some steps, but nothing too strenuous. Has an exhibition of some treasures which you need to pay. You will see some tortoise. At the exit, there are many shops which you will need to navigate to exit.

We are a traditional tai chi school, based in the beautiful area of Yangshuo. Our school is in a genuine Qing dynasty house in a small farming village at the entrance to the famous Yu-long scenic area. We offer training to all levels of students from those wishing to take there first steps into learning Tai Chi with no previous knowledge. And those looking for a chance to refine and study under true Tai chi masters in China, in a traditional old school enviroment.
my partner and I had come across the school on Baidu, after a couple of frustrated attempts enrolling for Tai Chi lessons by freelancers via our hotel and realising that the cost was exorbitant because of an additional booking fee. lesson learnt: google beforehand and make direct bookings to avoid getting ripped off by middlemen.
it was my first experience with Tai Chi, and I'm glad it was with Teacher Ping at the Yangshuo Traditional T'ai Chi School. the school is a world of its own - idyllic, with my classmates and I losing track of time on numerous counts. Teacher Ping is incredibly patient and is a picture of serenity - a bonus is that he conducts classes in English.
we returned to the school every day for our last three days of a one week trip to Yangshuo, for two hour sessions at each time. by the third day of Chen style Tai Chi practice, we were aching in places we never knew muscles existed. we had also been introduced to reverse abdominal breathing, a couple of defence moves, and the beginner Chen style steps - all within the span of three days.
would definitely return for a longer period during our next stay.

The hill is located in the Shi Li Hua Lang Scenic Area, quite close to the southern entrance.
Entrance fee was 14 CNY per adult, combo ticket with the Big Banyan Tree was 30.
The half moon shape looked quite different from afar and close. A round trip to the top and back took around 1 hour.
Having said that, the stairway was rather steep. So the trail may be a bit challenging for people who do not regularly exercise.

We started our Yulong River bicycle tour a few minutes outside of Jiuxian Village and just where the bamboo boat cruise ends. We were allowed to choose our bikes - I choose a regular one, my husband a mountain bike. Apparently the government had this park and bike path built for tourists within the past two years and it is very pleasant. However in China motorbikes also classify as bikes so watch out for those on this path as well as for golf carts, baby buggies and walkers. It's a pleasant undulating but not hilly path mostly paved with a view scenic spots in farmers fields and along the river to stop and photograph.
Allow an hour - very pleasant to do in combination with the Yulong River Bamboo Cruise. Also, we noticed lots of people cycling around the Yulong River near Yangshuo but the road is very busy and all cars use the bike pat

We did the four person boat trip down the river to Xing Ping twice, it was so enjoyable - one day getting off at Nine Horse Mountain and hiking along the shore for another few km to get to the small town of Xingping where everyone is let off, and the second time just sitting on the boat for the full trip to see all the Mountains from the water view.
When you get to the village of Xingping, it has an ‘Old Town’ section of streets with souvenirs and a few restaurants to see. We got some nice hand-made scarves from a small shop where a woman was working her loom and some other small hand-made items at reasonable prices. We ate at a local restaurant that served up a delicious local fish dish.
The boats are covered with an awing overhead and the best seats are the front row so you can best see the Mountains to the side and the river ahead of you (although you may get your feet a bit splashed from waves - no big deal).
