Staying in a cottage nearby decided to go for a walk to the hall.It was well signposted and we found it easily after walking through the charming village.
The grass had been cut and the whole place was tidy with no litter. The information boards scattered around the site gave an impression of what the hall would have looked like in it's heyday. The views over the fields added to the visit as did the church.
Well worth a visit if in the area.

Crocodiles of the World

Crocodiles of the World is the UK's only crocodile zoo. We're home to more than 100 crocodiles, alligators and caimans from 14 different species of crocodilian. We're also home to a number of reptiles, including snakes, lizards, turtles, tortoises, and terrapins! We have a busy schedule of daily events, including crocodile talks, animal encounters and feeds! A recent addition to the zoo is the Wildlife Education Zone - which features a dedicated education room situated in a new open-air area, together with a mischievous mob of new residents! Crocodiles of the World run events and activities throughout the year, including zoo keeper experiences, fun birthday parties and school trips or educational visits.

I do not recommend. Most of the exhibits didn't move, we wondered if they were stuffed. Some exhibits are difficult to see for small children or those in a wheelchair. Largest crocodile not viewable with wheelchair. Space was cramped for both crocs and visitors.
Best bit was the Tamarins except they are primates not crocodilians.
Café cramped and expensive, coffee very bitter. Jacket potato and cheese, £5.25: small potato and tasteless cheese and a bit of salad I did not want. Cutlery handles down, so already touched by others. Car park scruffy and muddy in wet weather. Cannot understand why anyone might give it 5*. Did not manage to see any of the feeding/special events: no space when we got there. Enjoyed the sign asking you not to leave snack size children behind. Mostly a Big thumbs down.

We were recommended to visit the pottery shop for gifts and were amazed at the beautiful pottery items and other gifts on display, albeit some were quite expensive, but the quality appeared superb. However the highlight for us was lunch. A wonderful selection of dishes, especially the quiches, as well as offering both GF and DSF options. A definite place for a revisit as soon as possible.

St James the Great

Reviewed By Katrien S - Ghent, Belgium

This small church in the small village of South Leigh, walking distance from Witney and Eynsham, has some very well preserved medieval wall paintings, and enough remains of them remains to give a good impression of how the church, as well as other churches, would have looked like during the Middle Ages. The walk from Eynsham is along fields and much nicer than the walk from Witney.

Ramsden Rare Breeds

Reviewed By K H - Ironbridge, United Kingdom

This attraction has just opened up on the outskirts of Witney. Entrance is only via Hilltop Garden Centre where wristbands can be purchased. A short walk along a winding path through a wooded area takes you directly into the farm. There are many different animals to see, hold and maybe even feed if your visit coincides with feeding times of the animals. At present there are Pygmy and Golden Guernsey Goats (twins were born recently), Mangalitza pigs including a sow with 3 piglets, miniature donkeys, Soay sheep and various cuddlies in pets corner - an orphaned lamb, rabbits, Guinea pigs, doves, ducklings and goslings with more expected shortly.
The site is being extensively developed making it exciting to see what animal will arrive next!
There is also a forge area and greenwood working area.
The picnic area is a sheer delight and nearby is a small shop for pocket money purchases.

A brilliant family day out! A great variety of animals species spread out across the site including critically endangered Asiatic Lions & Crowned Sifaka. All animals looked very well cared for and the enclosures were modern, suitable sizes and gave us good access to view them. All animals looked happy and none appeared bored and pacing. The facilities were excellent & the Gardens which surrounded the animals were a joy to walk around. Would recommend to animal lovers and families as it was a good day out! Good value for money as this is a whole day out!

St Mary's Church

Reviewed By Jan295 - Douglas, United Kingdom

Lovely Church with some interesting architectural features, including 4 misericords, the most impressive being a worm like dragon, the another is a green man. Sections of the Church date back to the pre Conquest days. The lady at the door was friendly and welcoming and yes we did buy a fridge magnet but there was no pressure to buy one.
The whole village is quaint and well worth a visit especially if you're a fan of Downton Abbey.

Oxford Bus Museum

A museum portraying the history of public transport in Oxford and the surrounding areas with a separate building containing Morris cars built in Oxford during the lifetime of William Morris, later Lord Nuffield.

Reviewed By ChiefPeter

What a little gem this museum is. We visited on a Wednesday in September so it was quiet which meant we could see everything at our leisure. There is a huge amount of information about the exhibits and the local bus and coach history, both written and on recordings dotted around the museum. Entrance fee was only £5. We were able to get on quite a few busses and coaches, not just peer in through windows. Museum includes a Morris gallery as well as bicycles. The walls are covered in photographs and documents. Glass cases full of exhibits from ticket machines to long service safety medals. A neat touch is that when you pay your entrance fee, you get a proper old fashioned bus ticket from a clippies machine. It is also very clean, which is unusual for transport museums. Not just the toilets but also all the vehicles and cases. Would have rated 5 stars only the cafe has quite a small selection, though fresh and tasty. All the staff we talked to were very friendly and happy to talk about the museum. On some days, not on our visit, the museum operates free rides around Oxford on 4 vintage buses. We really recommend this place and will be going back again.
