What to do and see in Wasaga Beach, Canada: The Best Places and Tips

November 10, 2017 Phylicia Berquist

Home to the longest freshwater beach in the world, Wasaga Beach is a summer tourist destination located just two hours north of Toronto. The white sandy beach stretches more than 14 kilometers (8.7 miles) on Nottawasaga Bay and welcomes more than 2 million visitors every summer. Because of its size, the beach is divided into six smaller beaches, so if you would like to steer clear of tourists and crowds who flock to Beach 1 and 2, make your way to Beaches 4 or 5 for a more private and quiet afternoon. Wasaga Beach is also home to many recreational trails and the Nottawasaga River is good for game fishing, canoeing and boating.

Great day of hiking. Scenery amazing and trails well groomed and marked clearly. Terrain can be difficult at times depending on your skillset but the views are well worth the trek.

Skull Island Mini Golf

Skull Island Miniature Golf is tropical paradise. The Pirates have been marooned on Skull Island and are guarding their treasures. Their ship can be boarded but be aware one of the pirates is not far away on his raft. The park is enclosed with beautiful murals of the Caribbean and music playing and palm trees swaying with a waterfall cascading into one of the pools. When you arrive at the eighteenth hole you may be lucky enough to be awarded the Pirates treasure if your aim be dead on.

Great area for walking or biking or just sitting to enjoy a picnic. There is a food concession if you don't make a picnic from your own food. Not to much of a beach but great for those who can swim(I"M not one of those). Just wonderful to look out to the water and feel peace and relaxation!

The pricing policy is a turn off.  It will hurt them over time as repeat attendance doesn't happen.  Let's face it, it's a farm turned into children's play area so the attractions aren't technical or awesome.  They are ok.  Pricing is $12 per person.  I'd suggest that $8 would be more appropriate for the level of attraction.  In addition, they make the adults pay the same fee to enter with their children.  There is nothing a parent is there for other than to let their children play, so $12 per parent is not appropriate.  They should not charge a fee for the parents.  Also, if you have a small child (like age 4 and under) that is with you just because they are part of the family but not likely to use the facilities they will make you pay $12 for that child also.  I witnessed a family of 5 (2 parents, 2 young boys, and a toddler) have to pay $67.52 and were obviously stressed about it but had already promised the 2 young boys they would enter so had to pay.  They could get far more value for less dollars just a few minutes away at Wasaga 500 or other attractions in Wasaga Beach.  For this reason I don't rate the place high.  If they changed their pricing policy I would, but as it sits presently the value proposition is not worth the pricing.

Marlwood Golf & Country Club

Reviewed By Harold H - Minesing, Canada

Worst experiences we have ever had. No originiization, they had a tournament that was so far behind you had to wait for the players sitting in their carts in the parkingessional lot drinking to come in so you got a cart. If you know you are hosting a tournament rent extra carts. Don't even think of playing on a weekend. We have had enough of Marlwood. There are to many other professionally run courses.
