The growing and production of wine have been present in the Žorž family from Slap since 1696 and they are a reminder of their tradition, nowadays supported by the modern touch in the art of wine making. With a production of wine extending on an area of nearly 30 acres, the Žorž farm is one of the largest familly owned winery in the Vipava Valley. Žorž vineyards are sowed with red grapes varieties, such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Barbera, as well as white grape varieties Pinot Gris, Sauvignon, Muscat Blanc, Malvasia, Riesling, as well as local varieties Zelen and Pinela. The Žorž family uses modern equipment with which they produce an astonishing variety of top-notch wines. The key to their exquisite wines and excellent success lies in the accomplished vision and common work of the Žorž generations. In recent years, the wine making part has been already passed to the youngest generation who seeks new opportunities in the combination of their professional knowledge and the experience of their fathers. In the year of 2015, cellar Žorž became also biological, which proves that we are following the newest and the best trends in wine producing. The Žorž farm and wine cellar offers you bottled wines which will convince you with the nobleness of flavor, aroma and color. Taste them on various occasions alongside a gourmet dish and enjoy the wine in a completely new way. In the atrium of wine cellar Žorž you can make a wish in the oldest farm Fountain in Slovenia and start an unforgetable journey throught our wine cellar. The doors to the Žorž farm and wine cellar are always open for you!
This is a small family winery, welcoming with a range of different wines that are very generously offered for wine tasting.
We were greeted by a member of the family, lovely girl very knowledgeable and passionate about the family and their wines.
While there were only 3 of us on a private tour at no time did we feel hurried. We were shown the cellars and offered fabulous cured meat, cheese and home baked bread with olive oil while we enjoyed the wine tasting.
Everyone's palate is different and while some wines will suit some and not others I would very much encourage a visit to this winery. There is an honesty, a passion, a way of life that comes with family traditions in wine making. Go! Enjoy!

Thank you Erika and Micha for your wonderful prosciutto and homemade bread and nice decorated table formoir wine tasting. We came with a group of 14 people on our wine tasting tour and really enjoyed all: the familiarity, the hospitality, professional explanations of the real good wines. Personal the Zelen and Pino Grigio where my favourites.
Thanks and go on, on your creative and innovative way of developing your estate!
We wish you many couples coming to prepare their wedding with you on a relaxing weekend and selecting the wines they want to drink at their feast!

two of the main Karst Springs of river Vipava are just a short walk away from the Main square - Glavni trg in town. Worth to visit them. There is surprisingly amount of water coming out infront of a big rock. There are more Springs of the same river around as well, which make it quite unique.

We are a rather small and young family-run boutique winery. The name WIPACH is an old Celtic name for our home town Vipava - meaning »Valley beneath the rocks«. We believe in traditional and natural methods of processing the grapes. We are certain that the highest quality only goes hand in hand with a complete commitment. We aspire to nature and to our wines being natural and people-friendly.
I've known the place for a couple of years and I've been here many times and it's always been a great friendly experience. The young winery offers a vast choice of wines from Vipava Valley, from fresh to sophisticated, from white to red. If you call them and book the tasting in advance, the owners will provide great food and wine pairings and overall friendly experience. I know for a fact that both owners took a great time to learn in detail everything there is to know about the wines they produce, so if you're looking for a wine lesson that would go along the wine tasting, this is the place. It's always best to call them in advance to make sure they have all the time you need to fully taste their wines and food. I would definitely recommend trying their ice-cream made from their merlot which you will find regardless the season.
