Stroll on foot through the narrow, steep streets of the charming Old Town, once home to 25 churches. Now only two remain, including the Romanesque Viborg Dom Kirke Cathedral. It offers a fascinating crypt and distinctive twin towers. Pine forests and hilly farmland hem the appealing town on two sides, while oak forests grow and the romantic Hald So Lake laps to the south side of town. The hamlet of Hjarbaek, home to a flotilla of brown-sailed skiffs, sits on a picturesque fjord to the north.

This is a lovely church light and airy; the walls and ceilings filled with frescoes, for a moment I thought I was in Florence! I was particularly impressed with a large fresco illustrating the story of the Great Feast, where those invited declined to go and so beggars and poor were brought instead. It is the first time I have ever seen this story illustrated in frescoes. Previously a Roman Catholic Cathedral, I believe, Nice area in Crypt.

The Danish Museum of Energy is a 4 star attraction, situated in a scenic landscape along river Gudenaaen, next to the historic Tange Water-power plant. The museum includes 10 buildings with Exhibitions and exciting activities. The museum park is a beautiful area with outdoor-activities, wind turbines and picnic areas. There is free high-voltage shows and other activities. Cafe Edison welcomes you for lunch or a cup of coffee. Children and young have free access.
Note, the majority of everything at the museum happens in Danish - but EVERYONE there was more than happy to take the time and explain a bit in english too. The signage was decent in dual language - though not everything. I was surprised to see such a nice museum out there - not that far from Aarhus too.......

Lovely place with a beautiful view over the lake.Lots of places to sit and relax. Good playground with a sweet, ice-cream place. During the summer you can rent rowing boats or take a trip around the lake on the little boat Margrete.

The museum is centrally located and with a ticket price of just DKK 40,- per adult which also gave us free tickets for the E Bindstouw house, the Bruunshaab carton factory and Viborg's printing press museum (All which we didn't have time to visit).
The museum is small but informative, especially the floor portraying the Middle Ages to the present. A room displaying the Danish automobile 'Brems' and a multimedia show about the great fire of Viborg in 1726 were our favourites.

The summer season is the time to visit to see the plants at the best although if you are a real botanist you may be content at anytime. It is about 80m x 100m enclosed by walls with a Fountain and low beds and Seating. There is a nice view of the frontage of the Domkirke and it is a pleasant place to rest a while. The caretakers always put a lot of thought into the layout, coordination and planting of the wide variety of plants and flowers.

It was the best place I've ever been to. Everyone was so nice and helpful. I could fly from Mexico just to come here. The installations are amazing, they have the best games and the newest technology, I recommend it to everyone who wants to visit Denmark or Europe. It is a must. Even if you don't travel, it is the best place for a party. There are fun games for all ages, the games are extremely fun. You'll have the time of your life.

If your near Viborg on a nice evening, then this is the place for an evening drive, bicycle ride (you can follow the former railway and present green route for bikes from viborg). The rolling countryside and winding roads are really charming and lead you down to the Limfjord for the perfect sunset! A stroll along the pier, there is nearly always someone about. If your lucky, then take time to check out the world famous sjægte boats with their slender hulls and characteristic brown red sails. This is the home of some real entusiasts, who know their stuff! Take a trip, if you can. Take some great food or a drink at the Inn down by the harbour! Well worth a visit.

This site commemorates an important part of Danish history. In 1864 Denmark was defeated by Germany and lost 1/3 of its territory. A new discourse was introduced: "What is lost outwards, should be gained inwards" with the very substantial content, that not yet cultivated areas of Denmark should be cultivated. At this site you can experience how the landscape was before cultivation began. And moreover the tremendous effort of the individual cultivators is commemorated by more than 400 stones with their names. From the visitors center in the middle of the park you get an overview of part of the landscape. Don't miss to walk along the 800 meters with the stones. If you approach the center by car or bike from Kongenshus hotel, it is recommended to continue through the even more impressive landscape to the Granhøj exit.
