Often voted the best rock festival in the world, Rock Werchter is a four-day event that sees more than 150,000 people through the gates to listen to around 60 bands on three stages. If there’s one festival to attend over summer 2016, Rock Werchter is it.
V lousy organisation.. they rob u by overselling parking tickets! I had to buy extra tickets for 15 euro each because they keep overselling parking tickets and the parking is full. It took us 3 hrs each day to find the parking zone that is free because the street signs r leading no where!!' Food inside is not as they present.. v v low quality!! The only good part is that toilets r clean!

New (2017) museum about Father Damien. A contemporary and interactive experience centre, build in and around his birthplace, where you can follow in Father Damien's footsteps. The museum guides you through different periods in the life of the Greatest Belgian ever and demonstrates that Father Damien is still a source of inspiration today.
Once you start your visit, you will be immediately drawn into the story of Father Damien. Also well-built and illustrated with images and material that Father Damien was using. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

This isn't open for visitors all the time, so check before you go to avoid disappointment. Probably better suited to budding botanists, I found the Arboretum a little "ordinary" and I resented having to pay to get into the park, though I suppose the entrance fee does deter the undesirables.

When I first saw the Town house I was awestruck by the detail and work done on its facade, I asked more about it and was informed that the statues represented various rich towns folks of yore, who made generous donations to have their imagines immortalised on the town house walls, at night the lighting brings out the beauty of the statues.

This museum tells about the first months of WW1. The German attrocities in this Regio (Aarschot, the burning of Leuven and so many other village). The counter attacks of the Belgian Army to help the British during the Battle of the frontiers and Battle of the Marne. The old Ursuline monastery was confiscated by the German to house their HQ from where they planned the final attack on the fortifications of Antwerp.
This is about the events described in "The guns of August" of Barbara Tuchman

If you are a cycle cross fan, then you are in the right place. If you're not a fan, like me, then this is not a good place, there is a cycle cross track, a tiny museum which you can visit in 5 min but a nice cafe where you can mingle with the locals and eat local specialties. This is one of those places where you can see the real Flanders.

Interesting little museum demonstrating how the RockWerchter festival grew from a little local organisation to an international high level event. You can taste also the famous local beer 'Jack-op' in the cafetaria

Brewery 'Hof ten Dormaal'
We visited as a group on a sunny afternoon. The very friendly family greeted us with their great beer and some sausages and presented us with the history of the tiny farm brewery. The beer is very special and brewed in small quantities. Very interesting and a great way to spend a couple of hours.
