Beautiful location amidst the golf course of Keerbergen. Real family restaurant where you can go in your jogging if you like. Food is ok, good selection of italian wines. Service sometimes to sloppy and/or slow. Large lawn around the restaurant where children can play. Two kinds of Terrace, one covered and one not covered. Rather on the cheap side, so enough value for money.

Dined in this gastronomic fish restaurant with 3 persons. There are two 4-course menu's which each cost 60 euros, we dined there including wine and coffee for 90 euros per person which is very reasonable for this class of restaurant.
Service was good although the lady serving our table was not very experienced and made several mistakes. Food was overall good but not great, for me the Ostend Fish Soup was absolutely excellent but I was maybe slightly disappointed in the main course.
I would recommend coming here during the summer, they have a lovely Terrace and a nice garden and pool.

Cosy restaurant with an unique view on the lake of Keerbergen! The menu exists of innovative meals, but the known classics are also available! For a lovely afternoon, you're welcome on our sunny Terrace. Besides that, we have 2 receptionrooms, which are also available for seminars and business meetings.
I loved this place, great decoration, great setting close to the exclusive lake of Keerbergen, etc.
But I got some poor feedback about bad service expériences from some family members and friends lately.
Last friday, in the early evening my wife and I were a bit early for a party closeby at a friend's place and decided to go for a drink at The Lake before. The sun was out, it was mild and we asked to have a drink on the Terrace. 3 Young waitresses were hanging boredly behind the counter and told us the Terrace was closed. First I thought it was a joke so I went to have a look, all chairs and tables were positioned and ready so I went back and politely insisted, but got the same answer. There must have been maximum 5 or 6 clients in the restaurant. So I asked if they could serve us 2 drinks which we would be glad to take outside ourselves if they preferred. But the ladies refused saying that if they allowed us out, other people would ask the same and they did not want that. A client sitting next tu us was giggling... Then the waitresses continued standing boredly staring at the wall...
Not willing to get upset, we walked out, drove around the lake and walked into the club house of the local golf club. We went out onto the Terrace where a few dozen people were enjoying their drinks and the Sunshine.
The manager walked up to us, greeted us and politely asked if we just finished playing our round of golf...(a classy way of asking: 'are you a member?') We explained we were just dying for a drink outside and told the story of the welcome at 'the Lake'. He had a good laugh. He kindly invited us to install ourselves, order drinks and enjoy! The service was impeccable, the kindness and generosity absolute opposite from 'the Lake', the sunset drink outside a perfect way to start our evening.
If the Lake doesn't get it's act together and the management doesn't understand that their location can't all compensate their pretentious behaviour and laziness, we won't go back there. Can someone re-explain the basics of hospitality to them please?

former old farmhouse converted into trendy restaurant. The young team of managers /waiters gives an excellent and friendly service. The choice of dishes and specialities changes from time to time and all dishes are of excellent quality and cooking. The Seating is excellent, especially the Terrace in summer. Located in the middle of a quite former agricultural area, now a high level villa park. Very recommended.

and for the food next.
The 'brown café' ambiance attracts a lot of clients from near and afar, in summer as well as in winter. The place is always very busy. Reservations are recommended.
I would qualify the food as 'brasserie' cuisine. Me and my family come here often, and most of the time the quality of the food is adequate to good, depending on the chef in the kitchen. The atmosphere is very cosy, low light and old music.
The check is somewhat reasonable, the wine being a bit on the expensive side, compared to the quality.
But I would recommend this place to any visitor to Tremelo, a must see, must visit and must eat!

For a brasserie the food is not bad, I particularly liked the home-made frites and mayonnaise. However, I ordered Koninginnehapje met kip, champignons, balletjes en bladerdeegkoekje which was nice but contained absolutely no champignons. My brother ordered the same dish and his too had none.
The lack of a central ingredient was a disappointment but what really spoiled the evening was getting the bill and finding that we were charged 9 Euro for a 1 litre bottle of still water!! I've been to a number of Michelin starred restaurants and never had to pay that much. My wife mentioned it when we paid the bill but without any reaction. Purely out of principle we will not return.

Me and 2 friends enjoyed our dinner, the setting and the service but found it a bit too pricey for what they offer. We went for the surprisemenu and you had the choice of fish or meat (or both).
Portions were small but nicely presented and we had enough with what we got. For big eaters i doubt if it will be enough.
For me personally, the desert (pannacotta) was a big miss. It was - in my opinion - not homemade because it was still frozen inside. When i said something to the waiter, i got no reply.
And my friends had fish with a lot of fishbones...

Finally we found a real (Sicilian) Italian restaurant that doesn't alter the dishes to suit Belgian tastes.
Enthousiast chef and crew, impressive winelist, menu geared towards fish an daily specials explained in detail.
They buy their tuna and pesce spada wholesome: almost better than in Italy as a matter of fact.
I cannot think of a better one in a radius of 50 km!
