15minutes from Sogamoso plaza principal it's easily accessible walking. The staff were friendly and helpful. The exhibition was interesting although a little dated. The site includes a number of traditional Muisca houses (recreations) and the temple of sum, which is quite impressive. Cost to enter 7k COP per adult.

i only peeked in because the basilica was closed (the star-shaped panels on the interior wood doors are mirrors except for the square-shaped panel in the middle with is glass and allows a nice view of the whole church). beautiful to be sure but what most impressed me about Mongui was the town square, the view from the town square, the nice locals, the statue in the square, and the soccer factories around the the plaza. We went to four little factories and saw them making soccer balls and there are some food options, too. not to be missed is the nearby puente de real calicanto. worth the 4 block walk.

Sogamoso has much to offer for tourists looking for an escape. The surrounding 13 towns that consist within the province of Sugamuxi is a region rich in historical value. According to early cosmogony, Sogamoso is the valley where the indigenous people of Colombia believed the Sun was born.
Visit Sugamuxi gave me direct exposure to raw cultural experiences and perspectives. It is a wonderful NGO run by passionate staff and volunteers who care deeply about Lake Tota and surrounding pueblitos. This organization is a must-visit to truly appreciate the Sugamuxi region. As my travels progressed, I recollected my time in Sogamoso where my journey began. It is the real Colombian experience.

Morca is gekend voor zijn (kleine) steenkoolmijnen en voor zijn kerk.
Mooi gebouw, mooie kerk binnenin. Groot gebouw, hier komen heel wat mensen.

Plaza de la Villa

Reviewed By Tynedoc - Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom

Typical Colombian city plaza, trees, park benches, icecream sellers etc. What sets this apart is the large statue of Muscian people bowing down to worship the Sun god. A nice piece in its own right, but wonderfully positioned right in front of the Cathedral. Must hack off the Catholics no end. Perfect!
