Sestri Levante (Latin: Segesta Tigullorum/Segesta Tigulliorum) is a town and comune in Liguria, Italy. Lying on the Mediterranean Sea, it is approximately 56 kilometres (35 mi) south of Genoa and is set on a promontory. While nearby Portofino and the Cinque Terre are probably the best-known tourist destinations on the Italian Riviera, Sestri Levante is becoming quite a favorite among Italians. This once quiet fishing village is slowly turning into a tourist hotspot, developing an old and a new town.

Amazing and perfectly formed little bay with some nice bars where you can sit and marvel at the view whilst your children paddle a few feet away. Never too busy when we visited in October.

Sestri Levante is town of beauty and grandness. Via XXV Aprile is one of the main streets that leads to the abundant Beaches, restaurants, shops and gelataria's. From the train the town looks bleak but is full of surprises as it is one of the few towns the trains run across the back off the town NOT the centre. Worth a Visit

After having frequented a few gelaterias in Seatri Levante this one is no exception. Delicious home made ice cream amongst other items on offer is available in abundance and served as you wish. A cautionary note however: wear loose fitting clothing because calorie counting is prohibited.

We stumbled upon this old (as in 12th Century) church as we climbed the hill for lunch at Dei Castelli. The surrounding fortress walls overlooking the Mediterranean were an interesting historic juxtaposition to a place of worship. I wish we could have had a peek inside--it looks as though that hasn't happened in decades.

This basilica offers respite from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding outdoors and an interior that the antithesis of the exterior. Step inside the breathtakingly beautiful interior which is lavishly adorned, cast your eye towards the heavens and take a moment to reflect on an age long passed, then say a prayer for what the future may hold.

We saw the strumbellas here and it was a great concert venue. Felt quite intimate and not crowded. Easy to get out. Also marvellous acoustics and the concert was out doors in the courtyard part so not stuffy

Found this by chance as we walked around. It was the most inviting beach front bar so stopped. It's nothing special but it is just right for a drink in the sun watching the sea. Italians all around us so that's a good sign.

Bella passeggiata lungo un comodo sentiero che si articola in gran parte all'interno. All'arrivo in prossimità di ciò che rimane della torre bella vista panoramica sul golfo da godersi in tutta tranquillità.
