This is only about the Köningstuhl. The rest of the Kreidefelsen I'll leave to others since I only had time to see the Köningstuhl. They sure knows how to get you money - seeing the "stuhl" in a limited amount of time will cost you. There is a parking at a place called Hagen (parking fee) from where buses (bus tickets) will take you to the entrance of the National Patk Center. (You have an option to walk either the 3 km or 6 km track which takes you to the same entrance instead of taking the bus). Once at the bus end station DO NOT ENTER the centre unless you want to see it. It a huge, costly rip-off and you don't get to see the Köningstuhl. Instead walk the marked path towards the beach 100m and then follow the right path 400m and you'll end up at Victoris View which have fantastic views of the Köningstuhl. There are 3 platforms of which the second gives the best views. The third is a platform out over the Kreidefelsen which is a very good view too. On the way you can enjoy the UNESCO world heritage site of the fantastic forest around the cliffs. THAT'S the main attraction! The cliffs are nice but there are cliffs like this all over the Baltic see. The forest is another story!

The Jasmund National Park is home to the magnificent chalk coast of the island of Rügen and the Jasmund peninsula with its hilly plateau. Beech Forests, chalk cliffs and the sea form fascinating scenery, which cast its spell over the artists of the Romantic period and even today has lost nothing of its stunning attraction. Within the 3,102-hectare protected area, the largest contiguous beech forest on the Baltic coast covers 2,100 hectares of land.As a UNESCO World Heritage Area "Ancient Beech Forests of Germany", a representative section of landscape, partially unaffected by humans, in the east of the Jasmund National Park was identified, which extends from the drift line of the Baltic, up the steep coast to the plateau. The size of the area is 493 hectares.
All the warning signs are in german and the entry to the best paths are not that well marked. In general the singing could be better. The park it self is very nice. There are no safety lines arround the cliffs, so you enter at own risk. As long as you use common sense that is not a problem.

Often wondered what it was like inside a submarine but never thought it would be a British submarine in German waters. HMS Otus is tied up at the harbour in Sassnitz just before the underwater museum. The entrance fee is 7 euros with an additional 1 euro to take photos. It certainly confirms my belief that submariners are a special breed because of the lack of space. Every inch seems to be filled with equipment. How anyone can spend a considerable amount of time in this confined space astounds me. I found the visit very interesting

Directly located at the famous chalk cliff Koenigsstuhl the National Park Centre KÖNIGSSTUHL offers a very special experience of nature. Together with your family or friends - the National Park Centre offers you an enjoyable day whatever the weather. A world of mysteries is waiting for you to be discovered in an indoor exhibition area of 2000 m² and an outdoor area of 28000 m².
The centre is very well organized in order to make us a discover. It has a exhibition where there is a choice of 3 audio guides journeys through time: curiosity, adventure and beauty. It is possible to experience many interactive exhibits to test and touch. Exists also a cinema.

This was my first submarine in my naval career and as such has personal memories.
It is, however, a fascinating practical visit to a cold war conventional submarine that is unique in that there are only two others still left in the world. If you are interested in military history, and naval matters particularly, you will enjoy the visit and tour of the submarine.

These are small trucks used by the riot police for raiding back in the 60s. Great guide, took to all the hot spots, waited for us at places where we got out to explore. People were looking at us as we drove around looking at Berlin. They hold more than a car and are much more fun. If you are having an event, be sure to book one!

Nice harbor front area with plenty of space to walk around. A bit on the industrial edge but you can watch yachts and even bigger ships and perhaps visit the nearby "Ruegenfisch" fish factory shop.
Only downside: watch out if you park your car here. The permitted parking zones are arbitrarily changing all the time and the Sassnitz community seems to depend on the money generated by "parking violation"! Also if you come back to your car just one minute after the parking fee has expired be almost sure there is already a fine under the windscreen wiper!

Mom and I took an afternoon cruise to see the chalk cliffs on the island of Ruegen. The waters were choppy, the boat was really moving a lot, and mom got very anxious. The crew could not have been nicer in talking with her, explaining the motion, the seas, and how safe the boat was. The tour was great and the sights wonderful. The boat was very clean and comfortable and I would not even consider another tour operator except this one. An absolute must-do when visiting the island.
