We were here in mid-July on our multi-day trek on the Alta Via 1, and I couldn’t have been more giddy with the surroundings: Forests bursting with blooming rhododendron, alpine tundra that rolled with greenery and wildflowers, limestone rock jutting out of clear, burbling streams, jagged Mountains thrusting ominously into the big blue skies, and late afternoon thunderstorms with dark clouds contrasting against everything.
That day we started our trek from Rifugio Sennes and descended for a pee break at Perderu before heading up towards Rifugio Fanes.
My only real disappointment was the lack of wildlife. Here in the U.S. at the national parks, I take the animals for granted as you can see interesting fauna if you keep your eyes open; however, all I saw here was a smattering of a few birds and the occasional squirrel.

Museum next to the castle.
The castle closes at around 5 PM.
The castle is beautiful lit during night time making it an awesome spot for night photography.
They have a small fence with lots of lama close to the castle.
Recommend to park your car and walk around the castle and take beautiful pictures

It's more than a simple museum, it's something that touches our sensibility and the visit of this MMM is absolutely not to miss. The architecture of the museum, the touching video and the atmosphere are three of the reasons to go on the top of Kronplatz.

Experience the Dolomites with us! As tourism experts for several generations, we love sports and know these spectacular Mountains like the backs of our hands. Our goal is to organize your next vacation and make it unforgettable!
I spent a week with Holimites running the Alta Via 2 in July 2017. I seriously can't say enough good things about my experience. Holimites was exceptionally organized and attentive to all of our needs. Their staff and guides were first class and the accommodations and food they booked for us was amazing! I didn't have to do a thing the whole week (except for run, of course,) which was a treat! I was also impressed how they arranged the running days (difficulty and mileage) to perfectly match how we were feeling. Our group and guide were matched great and our pace was just right all day long. We stopped for lunch and espressos at riffugios along the way, which was fun, and dinner and breakfast were provided at our overnight refugio (hut or lodging) which were very nice accommodations. Our guide did all of the translations for us (thank you!), but most people spoke decent English. The price may look a little higher, but trust me, it is well worth it as they do everything for you plus it includes first class lodging and some of the best food I have had! I can't wait to go back for a mountain bike and/or skiing trip. I would book with Holimites again in a heartbeat!

Kronplatz is skiing industry. There are dozens of gondolas, chairlifts, many leading to the rounded top. There you will meet mess of buildings (upper stations, restaurant), an “Indian village” with tents, huge bell and small museum. Admire view around and choose a way down the slopes from your choice. You have long and short, easy and difficult slopes. Best side of Kronplatz is that you can usually use the slopes in bad weather (except wind). For Christmas and for late February it is overcrowded. Some skiing teachers exaggerate to lead up to ten children down the black lines. Best side of Kronplatz are unknown workers who, during the night and early morning prepare all the skiing slopes perfectly. They have some troubles with soft snow in the lower parts. Children and older people can skip the late afternoon skiing in the lower areas from late February to April. You have many possibilities to rest in alpine huts, on all the slopes. Some guests exaggerate with drinking and some checking would be helpful. Skiing is faster than some visitors think.

This lake deserves to be a top place to visit in Dolomites. Its large size with grandeur Mountains and still crystal clear jade color water is a perfect scene with the traditional old boats and wooden houses on the lakeshore.
Tips. Park your car outside the gate just before you hit the gated parking lot and before another gated parking place of the hotel. It is free but if you park inside the gate parking lot you will be charged 6 euro for the starting price, quite excessive.

From the old farm houses and mills of South Tyrol to the traditional music instruments, pharmacists, churches, cow bells and much, much more this indoor/outdoor museum has everything the south Tyrolean times gone by offered.
The museum (€6 adult entry ticket) has an extremely interesting and eclectic mix of south Tyrolean history all under one roof.
The museum starts of with about 30 outdoor buildings; from old farm houses, mill houses, animal pens, church etc with the odd rabbit, sheep and pig roaming around it gives you a sense of the farming community and how they lived from around the 17th century.
You then move into a huge two building museum that really houses everything and anything you could think of; old horse carts, musical instruments, a church, library, medicine, clothes, cheese house, doctors and cow bells. The two buildings really give you a historic sense of how the people of South Tyrol got by in the past. I found it just fascinating and unfortunately we only had one hour to spend.
I would highly recommend this museum which is about 10 minutes by car from Brunico. In July and August it closes at 18:00 and other months 17:00. Parking, toilets and cafe is all there. You need more than two hours. Enjoy.

antholzer lake is very picturesque. it has a nice path around the lake which takes about 1h and is highly recommendable. it is an easy walk for everybody. the seehaus hotel on the lake is a perfect choice for staying a night or so. there is even a wild life sanctuary right next to the hotel. i did not have a bathing suit with me but will make sure to have next time since the lake looked very inviting. so plan ahead! :)

We had read about this "world" and thought it was lager and more spectacular. It's more like an ordinary playground in the woods that are more poorly maintained that other Playgrounds we have visited in the Alps. The new slide was good though!

Stay in San Vigilio to enjoy the Dolomites at their best. The Ladin people are charming and welcoming. The hotels excellent ,the piste fantastic with the best maintenance I've seen anywhere. The lifts are fast efficient modern and nearly half are gondolas.
Of the 20 ski resorts I have visited this is the best and down the road you can join The Sella Ronda or enjoy the beautiful Alta Badia area.
