The capital of Italy’s northernmost region of South Tyrol, Bolzano (Bozen in German) has only been Italian since World War I, and its character remains distinctly Germanic. At the center of the town, Piazza Walther is named for a 13th-century German minstrel. The town’s most famous resident, Ötzi the Iceman, dates from about 3300 BC and now rests at the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology. The striking new building for Museion, the city’s modern and contemporary art museum, opened in 2008.

A fine and tastful atmosphere to enjoy everyday breakfast, lunch and dinner. The light and contemporary cuisine of our joung Chef delight your palate with the flavours of the Mediterranean as well as the tastes of the South Tyrolean Mountains for your lunch break with colleagues, an elegant dinner or a special occasion. The Chef mixes only fresh and seasonal products from the region with fair trade herbs. A rich wine list concentrates its offer on the prestigious local and national specialties. The Restaurant Laurin has been reviewed from the major travel and culinary guides. Among them, Manuel Astuto has been awarded as "Emerging Talent 2013" from the magazine Horeca (Il Sole 24 Ore) while our restaurant team won the "Service Award 2014" of the Gault Millau guide.
We were staying at the hotel and on two evenings took advantage of its excellent restaurant. Very impressed with the quality of the setting and the staff. The waitresses were particularly attentive and helpful. There appeared to be a wonderful cheeseboard, but unfortunately I was on a diet! Amongst the very good dishes we did have were parmigiana melanzane, green gnocchi with two types of asparagus, papardelle with chlorophyll (!) and chopped vegetables, seabass with fennel in orange juice and pea puree, kiwi with tea, lemon and champagne, and an extraordinary looking Sorbet Erfrischung!

We were glad that we followed the other reviewers and stopped for dinner here. It was just what we were looking for: casual, inexpensive, and quite tasty. The roasted meat (I can not remember which "bratten" it was) and potatoes were excellent; tender meat, full flavored sauce, and plenty of thin sliced roasted potatoes. The Turkey salad was tasty too; large portioned. With a bottle of water the bill totaled 27€; plenty of good food for the money. We did our best to navigate the Italian/German menu; an English speaking waiter was most helpful.

This restaurant is conveniently located in the pedestrian district of Bolzano. It wasn't a good night to eat outdoors, so we were offered either the cosy, ground floor dining room or the cellar. We elected to eat on the ground floor as the cellar was...MoreDear guest! Thank you for your lovely review. We are happy to hear that you had a great dining experience at our restaurant. We would be delighted to welcome you at our restaurant again. Best wishes from Bolzano, Paula Aspmair

We have followed the very good reviews here on Tripadvisor about the third "restaurant" in Bolzano.
We were very disappointed of finding a very small place where is impossible to sit down, with a horrible home-wine and some "tartine", bread slices with very ordinary cold cuts and cheese.

We sat outside last night enjoying excellent food and service. The wine list is extensive and there are some reasonably priced bottles as well as several choices by the glass and carafe.

We had one day to spend in Bolzano and it was raining. We needed a pleasant experience, & this restaurant delivered. Impeccable service, wonderfully presented with unique offsets and compliments to the menu. Lovely regional wine. Just a short taxi ride out of the town center. We would return over & over!

Very chic, low ceiling, neutral colours, extremely pleasant atmosphere and welcoming. The 2 gentlemen serving at lunch where very good, however the young lady seemed rushed and not so with it. The menu was extremely pleasing and loved the new take on some traditional dishes....MoreThank you very much Europelover26. Hope to see you again!

We ordered for Takeout one wednesday night. Place sits on a square in "downtown" Bolzano.
Although we did not use it, the very small place has a cute window to be served "curbside".
Menu is standard fare, as you would expect fro a chinese run sushi place. Foor quality was not great, fish freshness uneven (one roll out of five was smelly), rice not perfect.

What a fun place to wile away some time. The house drink at Fischbänke is a bright orange 'spritz' made with Aperol, sparkling wine & sparkling water with a slice of orange. Who knew bruschetta could be so delicious? Garlicky, cheesy yumminess! Cobo, owner and locally famous author/cartoonist, has created a relaxing and eccentric atmosphere amongst the former marble fish slabs. Be sure to stop in for lunch and a drink (or three) - you won't be disappointed.

The food is certainly presented in a professional manner and looks very appealing. The palate however notices more it’s faults than it’s merits. Although there seems to be a genuine undertaking of using only the best ingredients, in my opinion it wasn’t successful. The dishes lack balance. All the dishes had one of the ingredients overpowering all the others. I’m sorry but it doesn’t work like this. There is no need to go through all the trouble to cook something, if it would have been enough to just bring me that particular ingredient by itself.
The wine list is excellent, but be careful if you put your choice in the hands of the staff. It seems that they bring you what needs to go (and why not I guess, makes business sense). But careful, if your client knows wines well, he can tell that you want to take him for a ride.
The dining room is stunning. You can tell that this place has served food throughout history.
The staff is a mix. The young ones are very friendly but afraid of their own shadows, more senior ones are almost rude. You don’t feel welcome at all, more of a bother.
As I said on previous reviews the owner sets the prices for the dishes, and so he/she should. If guests don’t like it they don’t need to come back. But for these kind of prices I do expect a much better comprehensive package.
There is no way I would recommend this establishment to any of my friends.
To superficial people with more money than taste: this is the place for you.
