Safed (Hebrew: צְפַת Tsfat, Ashkenazi: Tzfas, Biblical: Ṣ'fath; Arabic: صفد, Ṣafad) is a city in the Northern District of Israel. Located at an elevation of 900 metres (2,953 ft), Safed is the highest city in the Galilee and in Israel. Due to its high elevation, Safed experiences warm summers and cold, often snowy, winters.

Never been to the old city
Fantastic streets and buildings
Lots of shops that sell art and special crafts
Little side streets with really old synagogues
Fantastic place,be prepared to climb steep roads and lots of stairs
Few vineyards tucked away for wine tasting with a view
Saying that signage is terrible

You really get a sense of what it must have been like to live in this fortress with much of it maintained (or restored). Definitely worth visiting and allow at least 3-4 hours to explore properly. Take water- even in December it was surprisingly warm.

Located on the Mount of Beatitudes, this octagonal church is interesting even if it's only been around for about 80 years. Many visitors use the church, and the nuns there will remind you to be reverent if you get too enthusiastic in your exclamations. It's in a beautiful setting, a place you would like to spend more time if there weren't so many people around.

The Olive Tree Art Gallery is a centrally located gallery displaying 85 of the best artists in Safed and all of Israel. Amongst the artists, one is able to experience a wide range of creative expression from many unique and original styles with themes from the Torah, the Kabbalah, and an interesting blend of worldly influences merging with Jewish symbolism. Our unique collection is composed of spirituality, humor, and modern Judaica, including special two and three dimensional artworks, paintings, sculptures, decoupage, souvenirs, pottery, jewelry and much more. All of the artists displayed are one-of-a-kind creations exuding lively, colorful and joyous energy that will illuminate every home with love. The gallery is located between the Jewish Quarter and the old (previously the)Arab Quarter in the center of the Old City of Safed, Kikar Sade. We look forward to seeing you on your next visit to Israel. The Olive Tree Gallery
What a lovely art gallery. I felt like I was strolling through a museum. The art work displayed was incredible. One original piece after another. I especially was fond of the 3-D art work displayed. We bought a 3-D heart adorned with colorful butterflies by Tzuki. It was shipped to us back home and arrived yesterday. We just love it.

It's certainly worth a visit. It's larger than others that we visited. It has a notable artistic Totah Ark (for placement and storage of the scrolls). It has a very unique and raised Torah Reading platform (almost 10 rather rickety steps to get up there). Look up into the dome to see the artistic renderings of the Biblical tribes of jacob as well as depictions of Biblical scenes and (maybe) more contemporary historical religious sites.

Rosh Pina Spa is a wonderful place to get a good relaxing massage.
Amazing - you float and fly in Sherie's hands!! She seems to know every single detail about perfect relaxation, reads you well (although be sure to tell if you are looking for something in particular, of course) and you feel her tender and confident touch as she is walking you in your semi-here experience. A place to come back again and again ❤

Ha'Ari is located at the far end of the main street of Judaica shops. Dating from the 16th century it is where the Kabbalah Shabbat prayer originated. The ark is very old and carved from Olive wood. Donations are accepted but not required for entrance. This is still an active congregations. Highly recommend. Hope this helps.

Beautiful Saturday morning (09:00) , four of us are met by Gil , the smiling friendly student from Brazil , who shows us around this stunning place , patiently answering our questions , explaining the purpose of Domus Galilea . Amazing Panorama of the Kineret lake .
I recommend that if you are travelling by yourselves , (not with an organized tour) - call in advance to reserve the tour of this place .
To add an additional taste to this visit , we continued from here to "Tzel Tamar" restaurant (At Kibutz Ashdot Ya'akov Ichud) for a great relaxed late brakfast (See separate review) .

Akiva is a gracious and expert guide of the galil and Golan. We recently toured with our 6 and 4 year old boys, and were nervous about the 100 degree heat, but we were surprised and happy to be whisked away in a sleek and comfortable land rover, (with amazing a/c) we had a quick dip in the Jordan, drove up Mountains, visited abandoned bunkers and took in the beauty of Israel.
Akiva, was really amazing, he is "one with the land" and is an expert on all parts of Israel's history, local geography, plant & agricultural species, and has a love for the local birds. I would highly recommend Akiva for your family tour in northern Israel!

The area is magnificent!
{There's a amazing single trail for fellow MTB'ers}
the ride was enjoyable with a few unexpected bonuses of short galloping. Alex the manager was very polite and easy to work with also beforehand (configuring times and money) and while. The reason I only gave three stars is because two staff members one in the reception once I arrived it was not clear were to wait for the pre ride instruction, {wait near the tree.... Were in a forest Guinness!} had to ask three times till it was clear by that time i missed the instructions only to be told I'll learn on the way... Which i did with a bit of annoyance from one of the guides who also did not allow my son to ride in front of me (so i can watch his joy) continuly saying soon i will soon i will... I have to say i came at one of the most busiest times [ passover holidays] so i cut them a little slack though I paid quite a lot..
