El Silencio

About 26 miles from Lima, Playa el Silencio offers a window into Peru's memorable summer time. Try the fresh ceviche on the beach, delivered directly to your spot in the sand.

El Silencio beach might have been a great place to visit at one time in the past, but it is not anymore. The water is cold, there are high waves, making it less than ideal to visit with a family (or coming out of the water without having been upside down), but the worst is the pushy sales people. They really push you to rent chairs, or buy drinks/food. They will also try to swindle you out of money any way you can. Regardless, if you are looking for a quiet beach where you can have a nice swim, this is definitely not the place, regardless of what the name might suggest.

My husband and I spent two weeks in Punta Hermosa and had an incredible time. We lucked out and met Pamela Portugal on our first day and it made all the difference in our trip. Not only did Pamela have great boards for us to rent, but she showed us all the best surf breaks and local spots. Pamela has been Surfing all over Peru and has done a ton of traveling herself. She was the perfect guide and ultimate professional. Pamela also suggested great restaurants and helped us figure out lodging during the busy new years. If it we not for her we would not have had a place to stay. We ended up in a great Surf Hostel for an incredible price. I would highly recommend Pamela Sup Surf Peru. Pamela's selection of boards is diverse and high quality. She has the right board for every rider and condition. I cant say enough about how happy we are that we met Pamela!
