The city is small and unlike most cities in Gujarat, has very poor infrastructure... roads are portholed ... the city is dirty and the smell of drying and processed fish is everywhere. The whole city has more free running bulls that what I have ever seen in my life... driving in the city was a risk , I was unwilling to take.
Having said that .... the place is actually a bird watchers paradise... khuchaddi, javer are the main areas I visited ... could see some migratory and some resident birds. Herons, painted stokes, black headed ibis, brown ibis, coots, ducks, white bellies sea eagles, pelicans in plenty ... missed the flamingoes which are expected in November and stay up till jun/jul.
Shopping wise other than Bhandhani available at khatri store , did not find anything interesting. Keep it in mind that it takes a day to prepare the bhandhani after you buy it. For those who are unaware of bhandhanai... its a tie and dye fabric - Gujarat is famous for.
Food wise ... tried some typical Gujarati meals including breakfast ...though most of Indian crusines are available.
A must see for those into bird watching ... others can give it a slip

We were four people who started from Jamnagar to enjoy the weekend with Mother Nature in the season of roaring clouds.
The trip had a few tragedies while we were in the way, but it all ended as soon as we reached the place. The place is not as great as a typical hill station feels like, but this in not a hill station. It's a place to find peace in the woods and be lost and then found again by making your own path.
And the surroundings help you to be a part of itself as close as you could think of. If you live anywhere in 4-5 hour vicinity of the place then a weekend is not wasted by finding some adventure here.
Temples. Treks. Temptation. All are quenched in a short duration in this small place.

Huzoor Palace was constructed in early part of the 20th century by the last Maharaja of the Princely State of Porbandar. Tourists are prohibited from visiting the palace,
The palace was built with a clear European influence, with many wings and a slanting roof. The windows are very large with views of the sea. The various wings of the palace have front and backyards, and arranged so that they present a natural scenic ambiance surrounded by Gardens and Fountains. The ornamental porticos in the facade are semi-circular in shape.
On the way to Somnath, take 15 minutes to give around to the palace.
