Hope was our first rescue in January 2004, Dusty the second. Since then over 450 donkeys have been taken into our refuge here in Corfu. As a refuge we aim to give: the old a safe and happy retirement; the sick a chance of cure; the injured the chance of recovery; the abused the chance of regaining trust and hope and the abandoned the feeling of security again. Take a look on our website for more information, pictures and a detailed map.You are very welcome to visit us, see the work we do and experience the calm company of our donkeys.
We only found this sanctuary on tripdvisor and with trusty google maps... Nerves of steel required for the tiny dirty track off the road into the sanctuary. It is wonderful to think of the hard work and dedication that goes on here. We got a tour around and petted and brushed the donkeys. They are lovely gentle creatures and tales of their mistreatment here in Corfu saddened us. Please visit. Donate and raise awareness. Bring wipes and water to clean your hands plus bug repellant spray.

We had this place on our list of don't miss it but OMG were we disappointed, the beach was rammed full of 18/30 types, it was a nightmare to drive into and park due to all of the coaches dropping people off. It is good if you are the Benidorm/Majorca set and want full English breakfast and English meal. Horrible place.

Loved visiting this beach in the off-season-- no restaurants were open, but there was plenty of parking, beautiful views, and I only saw one other couple during my whole visit. I didn't mind having to buy meals at market- I was traveling low-cost and solo, it was perfect to have the beach to myself.

On a tour of the north of Corfu we came across this absolute gem of a cove and beach. Probably one of the best on the island.
Beautiful sheltered cove providing perfect beach to relax and enjoy the Sunshine.
Lots of taverna and bars to help keep you refreshed in this little sun trap. A real gem and great find.

Beautiful, secluded beach that gets surprisingly busy (but never too crowded) due to the little dirt track to get there that probably puts some people off driving there - although of course p, it's also accessible by boat. If you forget your picnic, no worries, as a little Canteen Boat drops by at lunchtime and then again in the afternoon, selling sandwiches, crisps, and drinks. We had the iced latte and it was delicious!
Clear, calm waters, but with a fairly steep drop off in parts and very few fish to see snorkelling.
No facilities at all at beach, so take your own lilo, or rush matting and umbrella, although there is some shade to the side of the beach.

Come and view an interesting collection of Mediterranean Fish and Reptiles at Paleokastritsa
We had an impromptu stop here when having a wander around Paleo town. It's really small but packs a lot in. We were only in here for 2 minutes when one of the staff offered us a guided tour in English. He was very knowledgeable, got different animals out for us to hold or touch. We spent about an hour in here and it was very enjoyable. Worth a visit if you've got time to spare.

A beautiful beach , but not in high season. We think when you visit the beach in june or september it will be far more beautiful because less crowded. Near the beach you can get food and drinks.

This was one of the nicer Beaches we visited in Paleokastritsa. It wasn't too crowded and had a good water area.
