St Mary's Church

From the outside the sandstone bricks look weathered and dark and make the place seem rather gloomy. Inside it's much brighter, with the subtle colours of the sandstone making it attractive, calming and quite appealing. It's not enormous and there are plenty of plaques and memorials to read. Half an hour

This is a great venue; small and friendly, beautifully decorated and has a lovely atmosphere. The Panto Snow White with Cannon and Ball was soooooo funny, the whole family laughed all evening. The staff serving at the bar were superb; very efficient and wonderfully helpful, as in fact were all members of staff. Thank you, guys, Very much looking forward to some more entertainment in the near future.

We recently did the Level 1 off road driving course having visited the site on three previous occasions. In the morning we drove a Defender and after a nice lunch in Peckforton Castle we drove the Discovery in the afternoon. The vehicles do wonderful things off road, things you wouldn't try yourself without an instructor. There are several things you learn which will come in useful when there is snow on the ground even if you never take your vehicle off road

Bunbury Mill

A restored and operational water mill. This historical building is open every Sunday afternoon 1-5pm from March to 26th October (BST). A tour of the mill lasts around 40 minutes and takes you on a victorian journey, from the arrival of the wheat to the sacking of the flour. On the way you will be able to operate the 200 year old machinery and even start up the ten ton water wheel. We also have a tea room and beautiful wildlife rich grounds, as well as a fantastic dipping pond.

A group of us visited the mill on Sunday. The guided tour around the mill was excellent, very informative and extremely interesting. The café was also well worth a visit, lovely home made cakes and friendly staff. The outside Seating area to picnic was also ideal. All in all well worth a visit and we will certainly going back.

Two weeks cruising on NB Monarch - brilliant even though the weather wasn't! Once again thank you Andersens' for providing such excellent hire boats that are always in tip top condition and always ready for us on arrival. We travelled up Heartbreak Hill then the Macclesfield Canal to Bugsworth Basin intending to travel down the Marple locks but due to a breach in lock 2 walls this was not possible. Instead we had a nice slow cruise to the Trafford Centre (a touch of retails therapy) then ended up at Castlefield in the middle of Manchester. A first for us was that on arrival at the Barton Swing Bridge over the Manchester Ship Canal was open to let a ship go through. A really different holiday this time very relaxing and Monarch behaved really well! a great two weeks. If you are thinking of taking a boating holiday on the canals look no further than Andersens their boats plus the service you receive from start to finish is second to none = plus of course the bottle of wine and bunch of roses (yellow of course!) that greet you on board always bring a smile. Once again many thanks - see you next May.

The Bear's Paw

Reviewed By Edna_M0de - Wirral

Saturday lunchtime with friends, the restaurant was relatively quite but there was a wedding party in the hotel. The service was excellent and the food just totally perfect. I'm a vegetarian and sometimes struggle to find something to eat but I was totally spoiled for choice. The carpaccio of beetroot with Delemere goats cheese was too delicious to describe. Followed by the quinoa salad with hallumi, which was humongous. In a traditional American way I had to take a doggie bag. Lunch the following day was equally delicious. My non veggie friends were also delighted with their meals.
The Bears Paw is totally delightful in the middle of nowhere in the Cheshire countryside it is well worth a visit ❤️

Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker

Discover the secret world of nuclear government. For over 50 years this vast underground complex, remained secret, hidden on the outskirts of a sleepy Cheshire town. Declassified in 1993, the 35,000 sq ft underground bunker would have been the centre of Regional Government had nuclear war broken out. The bunker today offers a warm welcome to anyone looking for a totally different day out.

Reviewed By ManchesterTonytiger - Manchester

This place is worth a look if you have any sort of interest in nuclear war and Armageddon and how the government thought that you could hide under an internal door and protect yourself from nuclear fallout - a classic example of being seen to do something I think.
There are a lot of other exhibits in the bunker that are not anything to do with the bunker itself. For example there is hardware from other command and control centres and lots of examples of the similar pieces of equipment. It can get very busy on the eye and the exhibit descriptions are sometimes not the best.
I think the bunker may extend further underground than you are allowed to go, as the main area was only one floor underground and I couldn't help thinking it would be easily wiped out with a bunker buster.
All in all good for a look but its not exactly Disneyland - good to go on a rainy day.

Queens Park

Reviewed By Julie B - Cheshire, United Kingdom

This is a lovely park for wedding photographs and we found that there were plenty of different places to go within the park to get photos with different scenery. The flowers were all in bloom and the colours looked beautiful. The sun was shining which helped the park look at its best.
The front gates were opened as promised and everything went great, although we did have to walk a fair way, which in a full dress with train, was not easy. My little helper (Alfie) was amazing and lifted it up so I didn't get anything on it from the swans and ducks.
We will definitely be visiting here again.

Oulton Park Circuit

Built into the natural contours of the Cheshire countryside, Oulton Park's combination of stunning scenery and spectacular racing make it one of the most picturesque and best-loved circuits for spectators and competitors alike.

Reviewed By Barneston5 - Widnes, United Kingdom

Oulton Park is probably the best circuit in the UK. All competitors whether on two or four wheels enjoy the challenge of competition at this fine venue, with its variety of corners and changes in gradient, Oulton has it all.
MSV have invested lots of money over recent years to improve spectator viewing and amenities. A trip here should be on any race fans wish list.
