A vantage location for viewing best, the Panchachuli peaks and the flowing river, Gouri Ganga, about 10km away from Munsiyari hill station, in the Kumauns. The temple place has a good open space providing unobstructed good views of the high Mountains around, as it is located on a cliff edge. There are sheds and sitting arrangements, where one can spend as much time one wishes, without disturbance. There is a entry fee to the temple complex, (Rs20). One must carry own food and water, as nothing is available around. The temple is of simple construction and does not offer any significant activity. Evenings are the best time to visit to watch the sun set rays on the Panchachuli snow peaks. This is the next best place to visit in Munsiyari. One can drive to reach up to the temple gate.

From afar, it looks like a small stream but you have climb some stone stairs made for you by cutting the hills. it takes 15-20 minutes to reach there but once you reach, it is worth your every effort. Spring coming down from a height of more than 100 feets spreading its droplets on your face and soul is an amazing experience. Don't go there just for a photo session. Stay there for sometimes without your camera and you will have a memory of your life time.

The Panchachuli Peaks were calling me since I visited Kausani before few years and ultimately they pulled me to them. The Himalayan peaks are reachable even for those who don't prefer adventure. From the Sunrise to the dark night it is too hard to remove the eyes from the peaks. Every moment they show different shades of the mother nature... Must, must , must visit Munsiyari to watch Panchchuli peaks for the infinite number of times...

I visited Khaliya in June 2014 but had to select June 2017 because the drop list is not showing the desired year.Khaliya bugyal trek starts from Balati Band(on the main road) and is an easy trek. The trail goes through thick forest and later on widens up as you approach the Khaliya bugyal. Its perched at 3500 meters. The spellbinding views of mighty Panchachuli and Munsiyari valley is worth the efforts.

Worth a visit, this is on the road leading in, or out, ( depending on where you are heading) out of Munsiyari, Uttarakhand.
Not well signposted so ask for the Hanuman temple and the trek starts from there. Expect some climbing, on rather roughly placed stones, but the path is clear. At some point it breaks off to lead through a mud road to the lake, so best to take someone along who knows the road. We were lucky to spot a group coming our way at the exact breakaway point.
The lake was quiet, and being ringed with ice as pretty as a picture post card. Making the three km one way walk completely worth while. A good idea to carry a packed lunch and enjoy a picnic. And dont forget to take pics.
Did not know till later that the lake is sacred and is supposed to bless the region with rain when the clouds hold back.

It was an informative visit to the Tribal Heritage Museum.
The Museum holds historical relics and tells you the history of Munsiyari and the local culture that developed over time.
A good audio guide being played on the Public Address system tells you about the exhibits, as you keep going from room to room.
It badly needs infusion of funds to keep it going. Needs maintenance.

This sleepy village is located about 8 kilometers from Munsyari and is home to most artistic centuries old houses and people who make best quality Pashmina shawls from sheep and rabbits. We met the weaver whose house was more than a century old, who had a loom older than three generations and who made beautiful woolen products and who reared rabbits for wool.
Going around the village it was a good experience of being in the village of artistic and talented tribals who make beautiful shawls and other woolen products.
The village has good community areas like temples and place for performing Ramlila and other social and cultural activities.
Nice experience of shopping and meeting people and seeing arts of olden times.
