Imagine this. A whole kilometre of cosmopolitan boutique shopping, with more than 370 retail outlets to explore. The pavements are broad and tree-shaded, with inviting courtyards, verandahs and kerbside Seating for an espresso or glass of fine regional wine. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and there's not a highrise building in sight. And right at the end of the street is the sparkling sea
I know this is a busy time of year but trying to walk past all the dining areas on the footpath makes for a very trying time with young children in your group.
As long as you have plenty of time, the Main Street has everything that you will need.
Well worth a visit whether staying in or passing through Mornington.

On the second Sunday of every month from 9am to 2pm a makers market swings into action at the picturesque Mornington Racecourse.
We love his market. Just got back from today's and very happy with it. Don't bother trying to park outside as it is only $4 to park but is worth it as is easy and the money goes to local charity work. There are lots...MoreThanks travelling_icebergs, we're delighted to hear you had a great experience and got to connect with some of our stallholders - we will be passing your feedback onto Tom and the other stalls you mentioned :)

Today I attended a light operatic rendition of "There is Absolutely Nothing Like a Dame..." three splendid performer - two opera singers with a brilliant sense of the performance and an MC who I suspect has tripped many a board.

You can see the work the volunteers put into this place and there are still a scattering of flowers but a fraction of what it will be in season. Spoke to a very friendly gardener who suggested a return visit Oct/Nov time or even Feb/Mar. Car park in front of gallery and a toilet on site.

Schnapper Point often gets lost when people visit the Mornington Pier and the area around the Mornington Yacht Club and its two restaurants. The Point itself has a large memorial to Matthew Flinders and has great view to the west and north across Port Phillip Bay as well as a short walk along the coast and the cliffs. Take the steps up behind the public toilets to see the view.

While walking around Mornington I spent a bit of time on the pier today, very nice weather no wind and quite q few people out there fishing,
Good toilet facilities nearby and two nice restaurants overlooking the water.
There is work being done on the pier at the moment as it was damaged in a bad storm some time back.
You get a nice look back over the beach from there and up to Schnapper Point where there is a stone monument to Matthew Flinders .
Well worth going down onto the pier when in Mornington.
