On the banks of the Volga River, Kazan sits austerely, its cityscape a visual confection of architecture that somehow manages to be both playful and severe. No matter your spiritual inclination, you simply must visit the Temple of All Religions, a Technicolor cultural center built by artist Ildar Khanov. Though still a work in progress, the "temple" is a feast for the eyes—and the spirit.

Came to kill half an hour before the train, ran out of time after one hour and a half. Enjoyed talking. One room full of ideas. Thank you, Slava.

I was thoroughly impressed by this mosque, and I have been to mosques in Istanbul, Abu Dhabi and Ashgabat so I definitely mean it!
The interior is stunning with blue, gold and white. The mosque is visitor friendly and there are two tourist viewing platforms.
The museum of Islamic history is very informative in the basement. I was especially impressed the museum respectfully displayed a Torah and a Bible also and emphasised the importance of these religious books.
This is one site that should not be missed when visiting Kazan.

This breathtakingly beautiful church has a floral pattern and colour scheme very unusual for Russia. Naryshkin baroque (a Russian baroque style) is usually bright in colour. Don't miss the beautiful, mostly preserved interior and the bell tower. One of the best examples of 18th century architecture in Russia.

For those who love visual arts, this is a must see in Kazan. For those who just like to see beautiful paintings, it is also a must see. For those who does not care about it, I feel for their souls. This incredible artist uses several different techniques and styles on his works. Such a delight for the eyes. I am no expert in the field and yet I loved to visit the museum and take a good look at each painting. Also, it is very cheap.

I went to the puppet theater for a school field trip. We took 3 kindergarten classes! Everyone was very helpful, however, I would have preferred more English. The play was entertaining and fun! The building is beautiful inside and out!

Definitely Kazan is investing money in developing entire city as well as touristic attractions. Within key landmark Kazan Kreml (local fortress) there are several attractions/museums opened for visitors. One of them is Natural museum of Tatarstan trying to point out variety of the animals / creatures, stones and other resources/minerals that are/were present in Tatarstan. However, it is a bit to ambitious, while nothing so special and attractive I haven’t seen.
Therefore – if you have a plenty of time then drop by, but if not stick to National Museum of Tatrstan (just out of fortress).

What a Palace of Agriculture this is! The architecture is stunning with a mixture of styles well blended together. The center from has an interesting "Tree" artwork. It is easily seen near the Kremlin.

This Cathedral, just close from one of the largest Mosques in Europe, offers a typical orthodox structure and decoration. Exterior is very sober and white, interior is superbly decorated with beautiful icons and gold devices. A wonderful place especially when quiet in the morning.

Very interesting look at Soviet era items. We were able to try on hats and items of clothing. The staff was helpful and there are items you can purchase. Well worth a visit.
