Nestled between the Kopet Dag range and the Kara Kum desert, Ashgabat is a flat, sometimes dusty city twinkling with unique architecture. As a marker of Turkmenistan's official neutrality, the city's most recognizable monument, the Neutrality Arch, rotates during the daylight hours, facing the sun throughout the entire day. The city is home to many mosques and markets, as well as important museums, including one memorializing the 1948 earthquake that decimated the population.

Altyn Jam in Ashgabat was recommended by our fixer/guide Oraz who dines there often and enjoys it. It was a good meal, nice atmosphere, friendly staff and good food, pretty busy place the night we were there and we left full and satisfied. I would want to go back but without our fixer (he is great don’t get me wrong) as I’m not sure if we go the same service others get due to his presence there and knowing the establishment. Try it for yourself, it was good for us.

I visited this very lovely place several times before and after renovation. While being in Ashgabat, you are very excited by local exotics including food. On the second day you realize that not everything that looks great will fit to your stomach and makes you happy. It is almost impossible to find any other restaurant or cafe in Ashgabat, that is that much reliable in terms of food quality and service like Coffee House in Ashgabat. Some of their food are masterpiece of food art and after tasting it you tend to come back again. Very important is the personal of this place which is very helpful and speaks English. You feel safe and secured inside. So far is most friendly place for foreign traveler in Ashgabat. Most popular time for visiting Coffee House is in the later afternoons. The place is crowded and sometime you better call them and book a table. The surroundings of the restaurant is old town that looks more humanized that the marble new town. The inferior is very cozy and comfortable. The toilets are always clean and refreshed. So I would highly recommend this restaurant to other travelers.

We Proud to be the best restaurant in Turkmenistan. We making home Delivery from 10 am to 11 pm. You can call us and make booking.
I have eaten at this place many times, and the one complaint I have is the limited menu. There aren't that many choices, so I wish they would work on that. Other than that, this place offers delicious choices - their "Cappuccino" mushroom soup is...MoreThanks for visiting us. Please come again

Not too far from our hotel in Ashgabat was the Merdem Restaurant and we stopped in with friends about two weeks ago for dinner. It’s a cozy place with a great atmosphere and delightful food. Very Turkish style setting and menu but they do have all sorts of international dishes or with international flare. Service is great, food was mostly good, no real complaints to speak of and price-wise it was very acceptable, we would return.

Asuda Nusay is the restaurant alongside the British pub in Ashgabat
We came here as a tour group and had a served meal, which was a nice change from the frequent dinner buffets. Nice ambience and good service. We enjoyed a lentil soup, 2 types of salads, then a main course of chicken with fries! and finally a beautiful and good concoction of vanilla and chocolate ice cream with a touch of berries and a shot of some liqueur. Very nice dinner.

This place has two sections available - one for louder parties and dancing, and another, "football-themed" room, where there are 2 large TVs hanging on the wall, and you could watch football or other sports that happen to be playing. The room is small, only has about 6 tables, but it's much quieter than the large hall, and is much more convenient for groups that want to chat and not have to yell at each other.
This place is your basic beer pub, it serves cheap Berk and Zip (local beer brands), and has a large selection of food. Though we don't generally go there to eat, really just to have some snacks - like fries, or sandwiches - and to have some beer after work. The atmosphere is quite pleasant, the service is good, and prices are low.
I'd recommend this place to groups of people for after-work happy hours.

The prices here are ridiculously expensive compared to other restaurants in the area, but it has the best karaoke around. This is a Turkman style of Karaoke, where everyone sings along. Eat before you go, and be prepared for very expensive drinks.

Let me start with how to get there, because the adress itself might not be sufficent.
There is a small dead-end street goes from Maktumguly in between the US Embassy and the building of shopping center Turkmenistan. If you walk along the shops on the lft side of the street the door of the restaurant will be in the front of you at the end ( no signs ).
A nice small restaurant, like 10+ tables or so and a VIP room with one table for 8.
They have a good choice of starters, some soups and main dishes, including fishes too. They also have sushi ( pretty good quality ) and pizza too, thin crispy type. My favorite desert is a chocolate cheesecake.
The main menu is in english and russian, also the waitresses speak some english. They also deliver food or you can come and take it away.
Not the cheapest but the price-value ratio is pretty good.
Might be crowded around lunch time and in the evenings.
Some times it is better to park on the other side of the building, cars might block exit from the dead-end.

The best barbeque restaurant in Turkmenistan Always fresh and taste foods
We grilled a lot of delicious food by ourselves (marinated potatoe, mushrooms filled with butter and cheese, pieces of aubergine as well as great pieces of meat, sausages) but there was no disturbing smoke thanks to the sophisticated aspiration system and the nut shell as fuel. The green tea and the ice cream are also fantastic. No need to talk about turkmen vodka..Only the entrance is bizarre from a backyard of a large building with no sign at all. If you find it you will love it.

By many standards, pleasant place to spend an evening "al fresco" (summer only, please!). Food is simple and tasty, beer is reasonably priced, location great. On weekend nights it does get busier and if you're lucky (NOT) there's live loud pop music. Just careful with the bill: been there 3 times and 3 times they tried to add to the bill non existent items, bread, extra charges for service, etc. Different menus also show different prices. Long discussion with the waitresses follow, with the ususal "I'm just working here", "manager decides", etc. After the first time, we firmly refused to pay any unrecognized extras and after a while they gave up.
