Located 53 km to the north of Almora, Kausani, is a picturesque hill station famous for its scenic splendor and its spectacular view of the Himalayas. Flanked by the rivers Kosi and Gomti, this small town sits atop the Pingnath Peak. Though Kausani is not as well known as any of the other hill stations, the area is full of deep and dense pine forest, tea gardens and affords a breath taking view of the Himalayan peaks of Trishul, Panchchuli and Nanda Devi. Major attractions around Kausani are the Temple town of Bageshwar situated at the confluence of the river Sarayu and Gomti, the Gandhi Ashram and the Rudradhari falls and caves.

Must visit place.. not at all commercialised as most of the touristy places.. nice trek to the falls and temple.. don’t expect the falls to be majestic or anything.. it’s small but the fun and novelty of the place is in the trek to reach there..

This is a small temple and a very small waterfall .. can be reached on foot after a 2 km trek in the jungle... difficulty level is medium .. please wear appropriate clothing... may have to cross some streams ... jungle is enchanting -- pristine .. Journey is more enjoyable than the destination
Not suitable for weak people ... Hire a guide and learn about local trees , and fruits
ENJOY Kafal and Hisalu......local fruit varieties

Historical place and offers an amazing view to the ever enchanting Himalayas. Walking distance from any hotel in Kausani.
Good place to shop if you are interested in Khadi and books.
Our national father Mahatma Gandhi stayed here as well. Beautiful lawns and flower plants here. Small shops with average snack items.

Live Planet Show with the help of Astronomical Telescope. Specialty: Jupiter with four Moons, Saturn with Rings, Moon with Craters, Mars, Venus and so on..
There are 2 planet shows run by the private parties. One is in the main road just below the road which leads to Anashkti Ashram. The owner , Mr.Kiran runs the restaurant ad also the telescope show, a self taught person. Night we can view the the obvious moon, venus and also the various constellations. The sky is clear and dark. Also in the morning you can view the Saturn and Mars. Cost is Rs.50/head and you can enjoy the hot milk or coffee. In morning the sun rise view here is not advisable as you can't see the sun rise, hence do not waste you time although you would be enticed to see the sun rise. Stick to the timings as every 4 mins the postion keeps changing.
