Serving as the main port town for the island of the same name, the town of Ischia has been inhabited for centuries, famous for its beaches and the healing waters of its spas. The town is divided in two: Ischia Porto is the harbor district and commercial center of the island, filled with brightly lit taverns and bars, and Ischia Ponte, the historic quarter, with its ancient castle and its stone streets seemingly frozen in time.

We enjoyed the history, conservation and restoration of this monument. The views were fantastic.
A freshly squeezed orange juice was made that was much appreciated.
Gift shop was stocked with lovely items made by local craftsmen.
Torture chamber items were shocking and a reminder of our not too distant brutal past.
Profits are used to fund ongoing restorations.

Traveled late Sept 2015, perfect weather 80s, walked from hotel to bus terminal by the port, bus crowded with rowdy students, you must know exactly where to get off so ask ask ask, 1 euro one way, a bit disappointed too big and a lot of going up/down you have to really watch your steps, was not that hot thermal water, was not relaxed. Went for one afternoon and did not return. Booked a little costly hotel because of access to Castiglione for free. Stayed 3 nights at a hotel who had a better spa/thermal place inside the hotel.

La Mortella is the wonderful mediterranean and tropical garden developed by Susana Walton, the argentinian wife of the British composer Sir William Walton. It is located in Forio (Ischia) and can be visited on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 7 pm, from April through late October. Guided visits in the winter months - booking by telephone required.
Do not miss visiting this fabulous garden!!! Oh my goodness..even if you are not a plant person, this garden will excite you! It is packed full of the most amazing collection of beautiful plants, little intriguing pathways, Fountains, interesting fun sculptural pieces and all on a hillside, so plenty of steps and twisty turny pathways and every step demands you look at another amazing leaf shape, or colourful flower or shadow cast by overlapping shapes....a photographers paradise!! And then, there is a tea room, offering Fortnum and Mason tea!!! At very reasonable prices!! Do go into the music room..we were treated to a practice recital, piano and violin and it was a few moments of reflective calm! Such an amazing garden....wonderful!

Our first visit to Thermal Baths - absolutely loved it, the setting is beautiful, the facilities (restaurants, cafes, toilets, changing rooms, lockers etc) are good and the pools excellent in both quality and variety. It was easy to hire (or buy) a towel. I would take some flip flops or similar shoes with me next time.

Beach of maronti the magic place of ischia.two kilometres of the sand.spring water, diving & swimming .welcome to paradise.
We spent a lovely day at Maronti. This is a big beach. Most of it is taken up by paid areas, but there is a decent-sized free bit and we had a fantastic swim. We also had a decent, good-value lunch there. We got the boat to Sant'Angelo, which was also a lovely experience, especially coming back at night.

Both my girlfriend and I visited this little 'spa' on a residential street not far from the main road through town. I had a back injury, and got a massage. My girlfriend got a manicure, and went back again for a massage. Both experiences were great. The massages were professional, and I noticed a definite improvement after visiting. The husband and wife team are super friendly, and the husband speaks some English. Highly recommended as an alternative to the 'clinical' services available in most of the hotels.

The Park of the Spring of Nitrodi offers a hydro-aromatherapy trail which thanks to the direct contact with aromatic and officinal plants boosts the effects of the water. After having drunk the water and taken a shower, visitors can go for a walk in the Park and stop in the specially organised hydro-aromatherapy areas.
The most amazing place ever! It was totally relaxing, and I physically felt the effects of the healing waters. I highly recommend! I also highly recommend the Cantina restaurant at the entrance of the Fonte delle Ninfe. The small family owned restaurant has some of the best food I had during my entire stay in Italy!

A place rich in history, surprise and great works done by hand-designed for lovers of ancient traditions full of items consumed by the hands of our ancestors.Un luogo ricco di storia,di sorprese e di grandi opere realizzate a mano, pensato per gli appassionati di tradizioni antiche, oggetti consumati dalle mani dei nostri antenati.
We loved Casa Museo! This house is decorated by pebble and shell mosaic with sculptures and interesting objects everywhere. The owner was very welcoming- he spoke very little English and our Italian is rather limited but I think I almost persuaded him to come to Scotland to decorate my house!
Entry is free but you are expected leave a donation. We travelled there by bus via Fontana- it is a bit of a walk beyond the village on a road with no pavement so a bit hair raising but quite easy to find. There is a car park if you travel by car or scooter.
