Boardwalk with handicap access. We saw 2 beavers in actionat dusk. Well worth a visit. Ask a local for directions.
A truly impressive and long series of boardwalks over and around the marshy area with many interpretative plaques plus trails under the trees. They have put huge work into making and maintaining this access walk into beaver, otter and birding territory. Very easily accessible off the highway with free parking and free admission. So don't miss it if you are passing by.

We camped at Gregg lake in a non service area The site was very good. the campsite very clean and most of campers were considerate in not running three generators.
The park itself is okay but there is not really any good views of the rockies with the exception of the hike to the Athabasca look out.
Hiking in the park however is lousy. Hikes through in the trees to really nowhere.
The shirt hike to the Athabasca look out and the stroll around the bathtub are the two exceptions.
This park I beleive would be much more enjoyabel with a kayak, canoe or a boat.

Alberta Visitor Information Centre. Lots of parking, right in the core of downtown Hinton. Drop in for great Alberta and local information. WiFi lounge.
Clean well-stocked facility, with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Well worth the stop. Fruit and veggie stand in the parking lot had excellent, fresh-daily choices.Hi 517nancyg, Thanks for letting us know about your recent visit to the Travel Alberta Hinton Visitor Information Centre. The Northern Rockies Museum is Hinton's newest attraction featuring interactive child friendly activities, portable tablet displays, hands on learning opportunities plus more all located inside Hinton's original 1911 train station.
The restoration and development of this historic station shows what can be done to create a living history. As others have said it is the enthusiasm of the staff that is infectious and gives life to the exhibits and displays. We can't thank Madison and Alex enough for giving us so much time and hospitality which makes this visit the unexpected highlight of our journey through the Rockies. We have learnt a lot about the history, culture and heritage of the town, area and Railways and are most grateful.

I am not a biker at all but like many people use these trails for jogging and walking. My daughter and brother in law are avid mountain bikers. They were totally impressed when they came to town and checked out the adjoining trails. My grandson (10) visits from Ontario and that is his entertainment for the visit, jumps, humps, obstacles etc. Kudos to this very active group that maintains and enhances this attraction

Entrance Ranch is a lovely place to kick back, enjoy trail rides, long walks and beautiful views of the Canadian Rockies. The house (B & B) accommodations are in a straw bale house...a draw in itself. Quiet and relaxing, this is the perfect location for a weekend getaway!

A hidden spot of Wilderness, following approximately 30kms dirt road (Rock Lake Road) off of Highway 40 North (Scenic Route to Alaska) (distance just over 70km from the Town of Hinton or approx. 130km from Grande Cache, AB) This pristine "wild" area is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and is a popular staging area for Willmore Wilderness Park...many experienced Mountain hikers and trail enthusiasts regularly visit each year and spend days and weeks camping and exploring this rugged, untouched and wild Wilderness area and its connecting Willmore Wilderness Park. There are 93 unserviced campsites available for reservation through Alberta Parks online website, phone or you can pop into the Travel Alberta Hinton Visitor Information Centre to arrange help with a reservation. This is a beautiful spot for peace and quiet, birdwatching, photography, hiking and fly fishing. The landscape and scenery will take your breath away!

A wonderful facility to visit with wide and spacious cross country ski trails throughout in Winter....converting to wonderful Wilderness walks, trails and Lookouts in the Spring/Summer. An all year round, multi-functional family or solo place to visit and play! I do not ski or luge (I don't know how, having come originally from Australia) but the Bonhomme Carnival/Festival that I attended (public) was a wonderful experience with Cotton Candy, Maple Taffy, soups and stews as well as a range of equipment and experiences provided for people (families) on the day! Educational/Information displays were set up in the Lodge and Alberta Parks had pictures, furs and Park Wardens on hand to teach the children about wildlife in the area! Make your way to the Hinton Nordic Centre (Hinton Nordic Skiers Lodge) when you can...its a lot of fun for those that love the great outdoors and a challenge! (35km trails available)

Only 15 minutes from the Town of Hinton, these wonderful short off road spots allows access to two of Hinton's favourite day use, nature watching and camping spots (Kinkey Lake and Wildhorse Lake) Once off the highway, the access road will be gravel/dirt but the area is always well maintained and parking/camping area's close to lakeside. Both are pretty and quiet spots to visit with high opportunity for birdwatching and photography - capture many aquatic and migratory bird species nesting and floating in the Lakes. There are 10 unserviced campsites available for a nominal fee at Kinkey and 19 unserviced spots at Wildhorse - Reservations or information can be made through the Alberta Parks website online, vis phone services or visit the Travel Alberta Hinton Visitor Centre to arrange help in Reservations. There is water available through an old fashioned hand pump at this site but not recommended for drinking purposes.
