Our first major stop on our way from Vienna Airport to Salzburg, was to the tiny hamlet of Golling, conveniently situated just off the highway, and famous for its prominent Waterfalls. After a week of continuous rains, we expected to view a fair quantity flowing down the steep and narrow Salzach River, but were blown away by the massively powerful volume of this furiously impressive waterfall, consisting of an upper and a lower cascade descending the sheer cliff-side. For the hike-challenged, one really need not proceed to the upper cascade, as the lower one is more than sufficiently impressive...
A brief and easy hike from the attractive entry-way, guarded by an affable and helpful local who took a nominal entry-fee from us, this short climb was well-worth the trouble of tracing the site through the streets of the village and up the mountain-side. The trail is safe and protected by a guard-rail most of the way, making it user-friendly for most age-groups, but be sure to carry a brolly or a rain-jacket against the powerful spray, and sturdy footwear is well-recommended. On your way out, spotless toilets and an attractive gift shop, also offering light snacks, provide added value. Lovely first glimpse of the Salzkammergut...

We had not visited Bluntautal for a number of year as much of the walk in under trees which will drip water if wet, even after the rain! This year, the weather was dry and we enjoyed our walk to the lake which was very calm.
The lake is fed with melt water from the surrounding Mountains which gives it its characteristic blue colour and is crystal clear so you can watch the fish swimming around. Fishing is permitted and the lone angler caught a fish (trout like) while we were there. There were a few other people, mainly young mums with prams, but nothing disturbed the tranquility!

The spa Aqua Salza is right outside the Golling village surrounded by the Mountains .There is a bus connection from Salzburg or from the Golling-Abtenau railway station.I usually walk from the train; it takes about 20 minutes. The spa is a big complex of swimming pools, massage and beauty parlor, a restaurant and saunas.I only go to sauna.Saunas there are many and there is even animation.: Aufguss-ceremony with different oils or salt. For me the best part are the saunas outdoors. The view to the Mountains awesome. There is also a heated outdoor swimming pool. .Indoor there are also steam baths. This time I took the early bird tariff:Sauna from 10-14 and 2 towels (Euro 21.50).Saunas are mixed and textile free.

Surprised there is not more reviews, this locations simply took my breath away!
Early for Winter, we came on the train from Salzburg to find snow and look around.
The most beautiful village ever, the main strip leads up to the church, and then you turn the corner into the cemetery and wow, the views! What a beautiful place to rest eternal!

Fantastisk oplevelse at besøge denne kirke.

Museum collections surprisingly excellent for such a small village. A great way to pass an hour or two while strolling this charming village.
