Lake McKenzie

Reviewed By Mon55 - Brisbane, Australia

We walked the 12.5km (one way)from Kingfisher Resort to here and while exhausting the sight of this lake at the end made it worthwhile. The path is well set out and easy to follow. Only walkway 2 is open at the moment. The water is very inviting and starts shallow and becomes quite deep. The sand is so soft - silica sand. It is a touch of paradise. Having a 4WD would be much better and leave more time for exploring. A must visit when on Fraser Island.

A great experience in a 4WD! Had to stop to let small planes to land on the beach. Many people also fish off the beach but did not see any fish. A few idiots spoil it for others by not driving as they should but Rangers do police this I think.Certainly worth the bumpy drive to get there.

Eli Creek

Reviewed By wen58y - East Maitland, Australia

There is nothing like swimming in the freshest water you are ever likely to find. The water has been filtered through the sand many decades before running down Eli creek and into the Pacific Ocean. The water if so clear sometimes it looks like it is not even there!
The only downside of this beautiful spot is it can sometimes get a little busy. There are amenities available just a short walk from the creek along a raised boardwalk.

Champagne Pools

The Champagne Pools are beautiful and a must see however if visiting with kids, low tide is best due to the force of the waves crashing over the rocks . This place does get a little busy when the tour buses arrive however they often don't stay too long.

Central Station Rainforest

We called here as part of our one day tour. Interesting history on the boards here, and we enjoyed a serene and easy board walk along the creek. The water is so clear that you think there is white stuff on top of the water - in fact it is the white sand on the bottom and you can't actually see the water! Lovely stag horn ferns in the trees as you approach the walk.

The walk up to the sand dunes and Lake Wabby is lovely, the sand dunes themselves are a sight to see. The lake itself smells really really bad but its full of fish.
