East Kilbride (Scottish Gaelic: Cille Bhrìghde an Ear) is the largest town in South Lanarkshire in Scotland and the 6th largest settlement in Scotland. It was also designated Scotland's first new town on 6 May 1947. The area lies on a raised plateau to the south of the Cathkin Braes, about 8 miles (13 km) southeast of Glasgow and close to the boundary with East Renfrewshire.

Discover how 300 years of farming and rural home life have shaped and altered Scotland's countryside. Tour the period farmhouse for a sense of what living on a farm was really like more than 50 years ago, and meet the animals on the historic working farm: Ayrshire cows, Tamworth pigs, Scots dumpy hens, black-faced sheep and Clydesdale horses.
The National Museum of Rural Life is a fascinating look into the past of farm life. The entry fee was quite reasonable for the hours of learning about how farmers of the past made their living. The exhibits were very interesting covering the clothing, animals, farm tools and machinery. A bumpy ride to the house and farm buildings puts you in the right mood as you head to the farm house. The life of this particular farm is fascinating and our guide Graeme Cumming brought it to life in the tour of the farm house. A perfect preserved farm house, each room a beautiful step into the past. The animals are delightful and well cared for. An extra opportunity for children to learn about the difficult life of a farmer. I recommend seeing the farm in every season to full appreciate our wonderful past.
There is also a delight gift shop and tea shop.

Fun park to explore with children's zoo. The park itself is quite big and features various animals such as rabbits, Guinea pigs, wallabies, marmosets, meerkats, snakes, reptiles and fish.
The calderglen park has a lot to offer , you can spend a hole day there without it costing a fortune.
So what have they got to offer you , there are some great well laid out nature walks, good exercise and great for walking the dog, there is load of safe space for children to have fun and various structures for them to play on, it has also got a coffeeshop that is open at certain times.
The zoo is worth a walk about , with a good variety of wild & pet animals to see, you have to pay to enter the zoo, but it is worth it. the park also play host for an assortment of events throughout the year. Enjoy your day there .

We haven't been for a while but took our grandchildren on Sunday and were pleased to find they have added more swings and attractions for the kids - what a difference it made - we had to drag them away for lunch!
My only complaint is that there are still no toilet facilities open unless you visit the cafe - come on South Lanarkshire - open the toilets, particularly at the weekend!

The Heather and Peat Bog beneath it swell up above the surrounding ground to form a mound which is about 2m thick above the ground. The wildlife there is also quite unique for the area. boardwalks across the moss allow close up viewing of the wildlife and plants so walking across and through the middle of the moss is also a unique experience.

Zone 74 is inside Playsport, next to Air Space in East Kilbride, Glasgow. The venue is an indoor BMX, Scooter and Skate park, with ramps, trick walls and a foam pit.
This is our 3rd time here, and the staff are so friendly and egger to help and give advice to the boys, Fraser gave us a tour and advised my son take a 1-2-1 coaching lesson to give him confidence to go round the park, plus it would give him tips and coaching to do bigger ramps.
We took up this coaching lesson and booked in for Saturday morning at 10.00am, slight issue with the coach not being booked for our session, but Kyle explained due to a rota error, he would take my son after another lesson and gave the boys an extra hour for free.
The lesson with Kyle was great, my son learnt so much, Kyle was patient and took the lesson at a pace that my son felt comfortable with, even teaching him to jump with the BMX into the form pit.
We came back again today and the staff welcomed the boys, and I must say the staff are so friendly to all guests.
The cafe is well stocked and well priced, coffee is great and while having a coffee you have free access to Wi-Fi, so parents can relax using the Internet while chilling watching the kids.
The toilets and spotless, which for a busy children's venue is great to see, nothing worse than disgusting smelly toilets, so big plus.
Overall this place is awesome, highly recommended, and big thank you to Kyle for the lesson with my son, he now wants me to book him in for another lesson.
Oh and by the way, you can hire, Bikes, Scooter and Boards at very reasonable prices, so rather than invest in a bike or scooter, hire one and try before you buy.
Thanks Zone 74, we love this place

This attraction has been renovated in the past couple of years and has made a terrific difference. Well planned and great play space for a variety of age groups. Spent a happy few hours with the children as they also have good catering facilities.
