The Denny Ship Model Experiment Tank, part of the Scottish Maritime Museum, is a fantastic collection of working exhibits, models and artefacts based in the last remaining building of Alexander Denny and Sons one of the Clydes most famous and innovative shipyards.
Another excellent museum to complete the overall maritime experience started at Irvine. Our guide, Anne, was extremely knowledgeable and explained the history and workings of the Company in an interesting and intriguing manner. Wonderful to recall the great days of shipbuilding and innovation that was the Clyde.

A really well planned trip by the profesional guide. A schedule was presented at the beginning of the trip.
John was fully prepared for any circumstances ( water, water proof clothes, cookies, etc)
He was very nice and caring, he had big knowledge of the history of Scotland, patiently answered milions of our guestions. Even though the wether
was rainy and unpleasant ( typically scottish) the time passed quickly.
On the whole the trip was really successful and we can recommend it to everybody.
If you are not prepared for the trip John always is.

Built by George Maxwell in the 15th century, this elegant and still virtually intact castle was enlarged by his descendent Patrick Maxwell in the 16th century. Patrick was infamous for murdering two of his neighbours and beating his wife of 44 years who bore him 16 children. The oldest part of the castle is a tower built soon after 1478, with a gatehouse. The connecting range was added in 1597-1599 by the wicked Patrick Maxwell, in a most elegant style.
Didn't know the castle had been kept "alive" ... thanks to Historic Scotland... played around here as a child After the war... we were always warned that the " monsters will get you " ... it was interesting to learn from the curator(knowledgeable informative and enthusiastic guy) that animals like lions tigers etc were kept in the cellar by one of the castle keepers...
Some restoration still in process but many noooks and crannies to be found and the " anti-clockwise winding stairs were an unusual feature.... great commanding views of the Clyde..
Car park was occupied mainly by workers from the adjacent shipyard.... lets assume that the owners will compensate Historic Scotland for this "ab use"
Well worth a vIsit ... the children today appeared to be having a brilliant time

Delta Force Paintball West Glasgow is located just a few miles from Junction 29 of the M8, making it easily accessible to paintball players from Glasgow, Paisley, Greenock and surrounding areas. It's very close to Glasgow Airport, so much so you can see our pyramid game zone from the windows of aircraft flying in and out. Our centre has 7 action-packed game scenarios, including 2 double-decker buses, Viet Cong Village and Afghan Command posts.
Great day out for a group of kids. Different maps, themes to play. Was just like being in a video game according to my son. Marshals could do with listening to the kids and helping rather than sending them to the dead zone if there's a problem. Great facility.

The Decleor Spa at Mar Hall Golf & Spa Resort is the perfect place for a girlie Spa Day or overnight Spa Break. With 7 treatment Rooms, Relaxation area, Rasul Mud Chamber,Vichy Shower, Aroma Steam, 20 metre swimming pool and fully equipped gymnasium this is the perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy the benefits of our fantastic array of Decleor treatments.
The Spa at Mar Hall is totally luxurious. Sumptuous, plus furnishings, mood lighting, restful lounges. I'd highly recommend a trip there. I spend the first day swimming and relaxing and then on the following day had the Rasul Mud Bath. Gorgeous smelling mud applied all over then a spell in the steam room. Rinsed off and then covered in a beautiful body lotion. I followed that will lying down in their lounge area with some gentle music before being called for my Wheat facial, which was absolutely glorious, could have dropped off quite easily. Went home with my skin being the softest it's ever felt. Can't wait to go back.

Dumbarton Castle is located in the ancient capital of Scotland and is spectacularly sited on a volcanic rock overlooking the River Clyde. Conquer more than 500 steps to stand atop one of Scotland’s greatest strongholds. The iconic Rock of the Clyde has heritage as breathtaking as its views over the Clyde, Loch Lomond and Argyll. This dramatic volcanic plug, which is Dumbarton Rock, in-filled the crater of a volcano that was active 350 million years ago. The rock is well exposed and inaccessible on all sides. Click here if you want to learn more about this fascinating geological feature. Admire great examples of 18th century Georgian military architecture and stunning views from the Tower Crag. Throughout Dumbarton Castle’s long history it has been a royal residence and a fortress, and has many fascinating connections from the Vikings to the Scottish Wars of Independence. Mary Queen of Scots sailed to France from here as a child in 1548.
This is more of a fortress on a rock than a castle. Most of the military buildings are no longer there, that said, there are a couple of buildings which house information boards. The outstanding thing about the ‘castle’ is the 360-degree vista from the top of the rock. Be prepared for over 500 steps but the spectacular views are worth the effort.

From entering Viv was so friendly and a good laugh, one of my acrylics broke doing my harness and Viv came to the rescue with a file then Fiona managed to save my nail ! Thanks girls. Through the adventure Viv was so supportive and without her myself and my friend would have gave up! We all had a laugh and would go back again !

Felt so lucky to get tickets as we have tried or couple of years. The tour was absolutely excellent. The staff were very friendly and informative. We were taken in small groups of about people. This meant we could all hear the guide and get plenty of opportunity to nosey about the sets. The guide told us lots of stuff about filming/ actors and the job of the prop people and the set designers who are constantly updating fine details .The guide was happy to take plenty of photos for us. Would definitely recommend.

The people from Visit Scotland Information Centre in Balloch were a fantastic help when we had trouble finding B&B accommodation. Carolyn has been searching and making phonecalls for more than 2 hours to find us 5 B&B's! But she hung in there until she found all the accommodations we needed! Thanks again!
