We visited Cumbemayo by joining a tour. Tour started at 10AM from Plaza de Armas and took more less 1 hour. The view was amazing and very fresh air. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes because you will walk around 1,5 hours. Slip and water resistant shoes will be better. Umbrella or Raincoat for rainy season. Also kind of windy there so at the beginning a bit cold, but after you walked you will get warmer. You will pass a narrow tunnel but very short, dark for while but then you are out. A lot of sellers (Women and Children) there, they offered snacks (Tamal, Humita, Boiled Potato and Eggs), raw Wild Mushroom and handmade textile crafts. Some kids will ask you to share biscuits, candies. Enjoy your walking, the view and the fresh air.

Beautiful center around the Plaza de armas which is telling some interesting history. Some nice activities can be done around Cajamarca. In general it’s affordable and not overcrowded, good restaurant options and accommodations available. Definitely worth to think about to visit the region (also Chachapoyas ;-). It’s reachable easily from the coast or from Lima with good long distance buses.
Cajamarca was really nice and we felt save.
Overall, we were very happy to have done a stop in Cajamarca.

Went here at sunrise and after dark from the Plaza de Armas. Only about 10 minutes walking up stairs with interesting little craft shops along the way. There are food restaurants and cafes nearby at the foot of the hill on Junin.

The entrance fee 5 soles per person includes this museum and El cuarto del rescate, museo arqulogico, etnografico y medico. The last one is just across the street on a building that looks a bit similar to the church. This church is beautiful and a good place to take pictures in the interior patio.

We first took a family bath for 4 persons and we really enjoyed it ! The day after we came back and after the bath we had a real nice massage for little money. The swimming pool was not always open

We went to the Ventanillas with our private car - result : No guide for any further information ! We asked for a local guide, but there is none. There are signs that explain the why and how of these "windows", and we also were lucky to meet a tour guide from another place who explained some more to us.
A fascinating place !

The church is the first place on the Combination Ticket. You get entry to Belen, The Women's Hospital, The Ransom Room, The Ethnic Museum and the Archaeological Museum. To pay separately would have been disappointing but for s/5 to all the attractions it wasn't so bad.
You can hire a guide for more information or use google, they both have the same information. You can't enter the room but you can see the line where Atalhualpa had to raise his arm too.

Nice place to stop and see, arrive for the calling of the cows, and of course, buy some of their fresh cheese and goodies.

Entry to the Convent and Catacombs is behind the church and costs s/5 and they open at 4pm in the afternoon. You can hire a guide, this is voluntary at an extra cost.
The Catacombs are a little disappointing. They've dug out the interned leaving holes in the ground with a few bones scattered around. Obviously those people aren't resting in peace. The Convent houses many old religious artefacts and paintings, many of which are in a horrible state of disrepair. Would be nice to see some restoration work done to save the artworks. If you're interested in religious art then it's worth the wander otherwise you could miss it.
