Amarkantak is origin of many rivers, primarily of Narmada and Sone. River Sone originates at a place called Sonmuda which is about one kilometer from the origin of Narmada. Sone and Bhadra are two streams originating almost at the same place and these two merge to make river Sonbhadra. It falls for 300 feet just 150 feet away from its origin. It is a must go, sacred place with a story. There is a small hole in which if you are fortunate, when you put your hand you will get water. Reaching this place involvs a trekking expedition of almost 2 kms one way. Theres a cave where it is believed that Bhrigu Rishi used to meditate. One has to definitely go inside the cave and come out from the other end. Thrilling experience.
