Cretan Olive Oil Farm is a place where you can explore the unknown side of Crete and its products. You will experience the way we were producing traditional Cretan products such as olive oil, wine, raki & pottery in a unique environment. See, Taste, Smell, Touch.
Very nice place and people. If you decide to go here, take a guided tour to get maximum of information. Guides speak English, Russian. A special thanks to Nadia, who was our guide. Received a lot of interesting and useful information.
And if you go there go visit the oldest olive tree in Kavousi (app 29 km).

Actually it's only 64 meters deep but there are plenty of fish, and the setting is definitely quite photogenic, both at night and day. And there are various cafes, and restaurants and bars to entice the visitor, and plenty of friendly enticers trying hard to tempt you in. We liked it, and we thought the restaurant we were in wasn't too overpriced or touristy. Lucky us! It's worth a visit if you are there.

Lovely wide, clean beach with safe, shallow waters. Sunbeds and parasols can be hired for a small fee.
Water sports available and a well stocked snack bar.
The views out and across to the Mountains are spectacular.
Lovely place to spend a day with ample parking if you drive out to it. The beach is also walkable from Agios Nikolaos, and it's a pleasant scenic walk.

I visit this church yesterday with my wife and daughter.
Let me specify this:
My wife visited this church at the inside to see the apparently incredible beautiful frescoes (wall-paintings) while I took my daughter to the toilet.
After the toilet, I arrived at 15:05 at the closed church door because my wife entered at 14:45 and the church is only open for visits until 15:00 (which we did not know)!
From the outside the church is different but not impressive.
Next to the church is a very quiet, very beautiful bar with a very friendly owner, definitely worth stopping for a yoghurt with honey a freddo or an almond milk. Don't misstake with the tourist trap of a restaurant at the oposite side of the road of the church.

If youre staying anywhere near Ag Nic then you must visit Voulisma beach. Fantastic golden sandy beach and crystal clear water. We visited in September and there was plenty of room and it was not crowded. There is a reasonably priced bar at the top of the beach which has toilets and changing facilities.
There are showers on the beach and water-sports for the more adventurous.

Fairly small beach that is always clean and a lovely sheltered spot. The views across the water to the distant Mountains are spectacular.
There are Water Sports available if that's your thing, but they are pretty low key compared to some. The beach club manages the beach/sunbeds and does it pretty well. 3 euro for a sun bed, 2 euro for a brolly is ok. They also offer a decent drinks/food menu and service is swift and friendly.
There are toilet and changing facilities on the beach and the Ammoudi beach club has a great bar with plenty of Seating
It's a great spot for a swim too, with a slow incline out to sea.

Such a perfect place to wander around and make photos. I just couldnt get bored from the view: the ships, the houses, the water.
If you want you can eat or drink in one of the restaurants. There are many.
One negative point is sometimes pushy people came and want to sell you something or invite in to the restaurant. But they are by almost every tourist spot I guess...

We took a daytrip to Agios Nikolaos from Hersonissos and after walking along the coat stumbled upon this lovely little beach. It has sun loungers for rent, or alternatively you can pop down a towel like we did. The beach is pebbly, but it isn't too uncomfortable on your feet. The water are crystal clear and you can see the fish beneath you. There is a small changing cubicle on the bah and lots of surrounding restaurants to keep you fed and watered :)

turn off the road istron to Pachia Ammos and take the clearly sign posted to Faneromeni Monastery its quickly becomes a steep climb with double reverse bends to negotiate as you climb into the foot hills the views going up/coming back are fantastic over the Mirabello bay .
reaching the end of the road is the monastery that's a large white imposing building a small statue at the end of the car park go through the door entrance leads into a garden area inside and several rooms attached all seemed locked up.
there is an air of tranquil around you can here the bees in the hives buzzing away and just a gentle warm breeze.

We drove up through Kritsa in early May - it was only 10 degrees when we reached the plateau and all of the spring flowers were still in bloom. A beautiful drive with some very sharp curves (and steep drops down the mountainside) so not for the faint-hearted but well worth the trouble. The views from the mountain are wonderful - would thoroughly recommend it! You'll need a 4x4 if you go on to the unpaved road on the plateau
