Sandy, peaceful beaches and ancient ruins beckon travelers to Chersonisos, a one-time Roman port on the island of Crete. This is a family-friendly place, with plenty of activities for kids. The Lychnostatis Open Air Museum gives you the chance to explore the trades and lifestyles of early islanders. Exhibits include a herbarium, olive oil and wine presses and workshops on ceramics, shoe making and weaving. The aquarium showcases local sea creatures, as do the town's many traditional cafes, though in a completely different (and more delicious) manner.

Out of 10 nights,we ate there 8 times it was that good. We were remembered from last year, which was nice. Whilst there,I celebrated my birthday, and they presented me with a fabulous chocolate cake. As for recommendations for meals,we just say anything! Traditional Greek food is A1 here, the stifado and kleftico being superb. It's fairly small and you may have to wait to dine, but oh my goodness it's worth it!!!

Open Daily from 9.30 am till 1.00 am, Close to the nightlife of Hersonissos but just outside the crowdy noisy area where one can enjoy a fresh meal and a signature cocktail with the combination of the breathtaking beachfront view of the sea and the sunset with the sounds of lounge, bossa nova, latin. Our 'Farm to Table' cuisine at Med Cafe restaurant showcases our passion for fresh and healthy eating. We source majority of our meats, dairy, directly from the producing farms in Greece with many bio vegetables from our own Gardens. The menu consists of local and Mediterranean favourites including Paella, gluten free pizzas, locally farmed grass fed steaks, smoked lamb chops and daily caught seafood. To top things off, try our Tikki and molecular cocktails.
Highly rated on trip advisor so we thought it’s safe . Had two different dishes one was with prawns. Both got food poisoning within an 30 min of eating. Absolutely awful experience on first night of holiday. Ruined everything. Great setting but obviously food not kept in cold or prepared hygienically. Would not recommend unless you want to risk. On a contrary the best and safe place is Mythos restaurant, abs fabulous!

We visited this restaurant twice in two days it was so good! It has everything, a beautiful setting caring staff and great food. I tried moussaka here for the first time. It was delicious. My husbands and the fillet steak which was cooked perfect. The staff are so friendly and care. We witnessed an old customer returning after a time away and it was so emotional. They were so genuinely happy to see each other! We were given a bottle of there own wine as a gift. We will definitely be returning on our next visit. Well done sofas!!

Of all the Tavernas in the square we are very happy that we chose this one. Friendly and attentive waiters/waitresses and an owner with a good sense of humour. Food was top quality as was the evenings entertainment of Greek dancing. A very enjoyable experience.

Off the main old square, so much quieter. Food is excellent and very reasonable, with probably the best house rose we tried too! We visited for lunch and dinner. Staff were lovely, friendly and efficient. Plenty of locals, so we knew we were onto a...MoreThank you very much for your review!!

We visited the Nautica Restaurant overlooking the beach in Hersonissos for lunch and had an enjoyable seafood platter. The restaurant was clean and the service was good. When we had finished our meal, we were offered complimentary raki which we thought was a nice gesture.

Passed by here on numerous occasions last year and this when it was usually busy.
Called in one mid morning when it was empty and had a seat on one of their nice sofas, they have several towards the front. Had a couple of drinks and sat watching what was going by. A good place for this.
Service was good, but we were the only customers. Drinks a bit more expensive than other bars-parhaps paying for the furnature?

Fine homemade Mediterranean cuisine. Romantically located next to the sea, in the heart of Chersonissos.
Our party of four adults enjoyed a really fabulous meal one evening here overlooking the bay. The extensive menu offers something for everyone. The food is well cooked and presented to a high standard. It is served by very friendly staff and is reasonably priced. Three courses each, two bottles of wine and a beer came to under 30 euros each.
Our compliments to the chef and grateful thanks for a truly wonderful evening.

Walked from Koutouloufari during the day and stopped here for lunch. Lovely position overlooking the little square.
Great service and spotlessly clean.
The Greek salad and Cretan salad were substantial and delicious as was the cold, crisp house wine and fresh bread.
Waiter was happy to chat and provide valuable information of the local area. Thank you.

Despite being all Inclusive at the Sensatori just down the road we visited the Taverna Marina twice. Lovely family atmosphere highlighted by how full the restaurant was. A good local menu. The food was well presented and tasty and the service excellent. Less than 50 Euro for a three course meal including drinks and a litre of wine for two.
