Myself and my niece visited the Spa on Saturday and we really enjoyed it. Thermal suite was lovely, small but well kitted out. Staff were attentive and friendly. My therapist was a few minutes late (I didn't even notice!) and she apologized profusely. They were very busy that day but it didn't impact us at all. I have to say I would highly recommend Revas Spa and I can understand why it was voted in the top ten spa's in Ireland, it is just fantastic. Lovely settings, lovely staff - really I enjoyed everything about it and will certainly go back

So glad I had the time to enjoy the beauty of this church. I purchased a brochure to appreciate the details of this fascinating and gorgeous architecture. Two 19th century timber roofs rest on different trusses with medieval limestone corbels. Lovely stations of the cross. I missed viewing the detailed hooded angels & bronze screen behind the main altar - as they were preparing for a service and I left.

Adare Heritage Centre

Snuggled in a wooded setting among the rich quiet farmlands of the Golden Vale by the River Maigue, Adare is a model village dating from the time of the Norman conquest. It has been home to the Earls of Dunraven (Quin Family) for over three centuries and is located on the Limerick to Tralee road, the N21, a great pit stop for those on the way to the Ring of Kerry. The Adare Heritage Centre, located in the middle of this charming town with its many thatched houses, allows you to step back in time through an informative historical exhibition, also incorporating a tourist office, gift, craft and heraldry outlets, and a restaurant. During Summer months - June-September - The Desmond Castle tour exclusively runs from the Heritage Centre 7 days a week, with a new tour every hour.

My sister-in-law and I appreciated the help we received from the tourist office staff. The shops were clean and open. The parking in the back made it easier for us to tour the village. We visited the thatched cottages first because of the unique style of building and of course the thatched roofs. There was a fire in one of the thatched roof buildings, but I was very impressed with the fire stop. Both thatched roof building on either side were saved. Maybe I see this as interesting because my husband is a retired firefighter. Way to go fireguys!

Desmond Castle

The Desmond Castle is located on the edge of the village of Adare, just off the N21 on the main Limerick to Kerry road. The castle was erected with an ancient ring-fort around the early part of the 13th century. It became a strategic fortress during the following turbulent years. It was the property of the Earls of Kildare for nearly 300 years until the rebellion in 1536, when it was forfeited and granted to the Earls of Desmond who gave the castle its present name. Tours of the 13th century Norman Castle operate daily from June to the end of September. Groups may be accommodated outside of these months on request.

My partner and I, along with two friends recently enjoyed a 10 day holiday in Ireland. We started just north of Shannon in Doolin and then drove south along the coast towards Kinsale. Then we drove north east towards Dublin our last stop before heading home to Boston. Going through Adare, we stopped for lunch and a visit to the Desmond Castle. First off, it is a bit difficult to locate and gain entrance. It is actually in the middle of a private high end golf course. You need to stop by the golf front office to get permission to visit. This is always granted, but an extra step. In addition, you follow a path through the golf course, so you need to be aware of possible golf balls flying by you. This definitely happened to us on numerous occasions. Definitely read up on its history, as there is not "info. center" or tour guides present to assist. Even still, it was worth the adventure to go.

What an amazing find this was ... from start to finish of organising a surprise afternoon tea baby shower with Sarah was just so effortless! Sarah was amazing with her email communications and when we met in person, was very welcoming and just fabulous customer service from start to finish. All the staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for us, a bunch of 12 ladies! The food was delicious, we couldn't even finish it, but it was all wrapped up for us to take home! The selection of drinks was great too for us non tea/coffee drinkers, and just the whole ambience of the setting, the decorations they put up, the help with the small baby, the smiles, the genuine interest in you, the feeling that no request was too much, taking photos for us... literally just everything!!! Everyone before we left was already making plans to return with others! It really was a great find, and I'll certainly be back! €20 for the afternoon tea was an absolute bargain, especially when you consider how much a slice of cake and hot drink can be these days! Pure quality! Make the trip, you won't regret it!

Old Augustinian Friary

Reviewed By Olena S - Orange Park, Florida

Formerly known as the Black Friary and dates back to the 14th century. Was known as the black friary because the friars wore a black habit. The friars lived and worshipped in peace until the reign of Henry VIII and his policy of suppressing Irish monasteries. At this time, the friary is in good condition because of consistent preservation and restoration and it retains many original features including the 15th century square tower. In 1807, it became the local church of Ireland parish church, St Nicholas, and is still in regular use today. Guided tours are available. Very interesting friary.

Golf at Adare Manor

The entire Adare Manor estate is currently closed until Autumn 2017, including our golf course. This is giving us the chance to completely revamp what was already an award-winning course, into one befitting a country in the top tier of global golfing destinations.

We picked Adare Golf Club to celebrate a family occasion and booked ahead of time. Upon arrival there was a welcoming fire in the lobby so we waited there for our party to assemble. Staff were more than helpful and attended to our every request. Food was delicious, portions generous and house wine very passable. We walked in the grounds afterwards, it was a lovely early spring day so we were blessed. We called into the manor house, so wonderful and a place I have to return to - maybe for afternoon tea. The grounds are kept perfectly and the ancient ruins dotted around the area really make it special.

The third of Adare's friary ruins is awkwardly situated in the middle of a golf course, making it very difficult to visit. As with the inaccessible castle, access arrangements really need to be sorted out.
