In Laja cooking wine region of Baja California is brewing . Over the years we have achieved the magical space that sums up the essence of Valle de Guadalupe ; Natural and simple elegance of where tastes and feelings so deep and clear capriciously endure over time arise . We offer a set menu that changes every day. The backbone of our kitchen is our own garden . The vegetable is our thermometer , our clock and our reference . We ranks and season ( not all years are equal). At your own pace , from vegetables , sprouts , herbs and seasonings our menu comes alive . The nearby Pacific Ocean offers great and always surprising ingredients and producers of cheese , oils and meats from the region deeply grounded our offer.
Started off with a selfie of my wife and myself in front of the cute house restaurant. Walking in the setting had potential however to my surprise no white linen tables. Ok.....not a problem. We were given an empty table with crumbs on it and not set. Not a great start but onto the menu. But wait......servers did not come around for at least 10 mins. Choices of either four or eight courses and wine pairings if you like. We both selected four courses so that we can enjoy the entire eight course and share. We selected wine pairings too. The first course came out and let me tell you.....nothing special. An over drenched average salad with some old leaves with black edges.....see photo. A mushroom soup that tasted from a can. Cannot find server anywhere again and when he arrived 10 minutes later we decided to not continue our dinner and we ask to pay our bill but they apologized and did not charge us. They seemed embarrassed and were sorry. So were we! For those whom have described this eating establishment as the The French Laundry” of Baja.....it is obvious that they never experienced the French Laundry. There’s no comparison what so ever.

It is always a pleasure to walk into Sarmientos. I am there most often to satisfy a chiles rellenos craving. I love both he cheese and the picadillo varieties. When Miguel Fuentes, the proprietor of the restaurant and winery, is not on hand to greet you, his gracious and capable staff do a commendable job of making you feel welcome. The place is unpretentious and very reasonably priced. Most recently, I have had the chiles rellenos for take out.

We have eaten many fine meals at Corazon de Tierra, but this year's Thanksgiving menu was really disappointing. A raw turnip salad was weird, the parsnips with duck sausage broth weren't very good, the supposedly roasted carrot, which was actually quite raw, with a bit of duck prosciutto and some sort of emulsion didn't pack much flavor. The Turkey course, a big chunk of breast with a quince Puree and a red wine reduction was ok, but not good enough to offset the rest of the meal. The only things I really liked were the tiny Kumamoto oyster (just one) and the sorbet palate cleanser. We ordered the wine pairing, but it too disappointed. The wines themselves were quite good, but did not pair very well with the food. And, it was very expensive--over $100 per person. We were not only disappointed, but embarrassed because we brought along friends who had never been there before after raving to them about what a wonderful restaurant it is.

Regional cuisine with mediterranean touches. Breath-taking valley views, environment that is perfect for small or large social gatherings, friendly atmosphere and casual setting. Indoor and outdoor Seating areas with beautiful rustic fire place.
I stayed at this hotel and enjoyed a few meals here. The breakfasts are HUGE! If you're with others, you may want to consider sharing. The dinner I had was delicious and a reasonable size. They also serve some great wines and you can't go wrong sitting on the patio and enjoying the sunset!

Definitely worth a visit. Food was tasty, well prepared and had a nice presentation. Service was very attentive. I see some reviewers saying it was expensive, but I don't agree. Thought the price was fair for what we had. Recommend trying this place if you are in the area.

The sitting was proper the place is a beautiful place but the service spoke for it self I will not bother going to this place again nor recommend it to anyone

Doña Esthela has a wonderful, authentically Mexican restaurant in the Valle de Guadalupe. It has received great ratings which are well deserved. The breakfast's and lunches, are filling, tasty, and include many non-spicy foods. I had the machaca con huevos which was excellent. My wife had the enchiladas, equally excellent. Good regional cuisine in view of their farm which produces much of what's on the menu.

We had lunch here with a wine tasting. They served us three wines, with only one being from their winery. We liked the first wine but did not purchase because we thought it was overpriced for what it was. The other two wines were not good, one was almost undrinkable. There were three of us and we all felt the same. Food was expensive by Mexican standards but that would have been fine if it had been good. The chicken liver pate had the strangest consistency, almost soupy. The location and views are outstanding and we are disappointed that the food and service does not match.

This is slow, not fast food. Remember, everyday you vote with your fork. Choose wisely. Buen Provecho.
At el Mongor winery an hour an a half from San Diego, CA. 20 to 40 min from other wineries around the country dirt roads. Great place to visit. But you need to make sure to have a reservation. It gets really packed. Smoke food with good service. The roasted smoke pork and half chicken were great! The lobster appetizer had a magmatic taste! The ribeye was a bit overpriced for the region’s prices. Nonetheless, overall fair prices. The restrooms have a peculiar setting such as an semi outside setting with a very clean rustic built. Although there is no bar setting, we were grateful to have Victor to allow us to taste beer before ordering. Great wine as well as other variety of drinks. Edén was our waiter, which explained each and every dish that was served to us, great service. The smoky smell take you away that winter valley visit. Come an taste the magic of The Valley! Enjoy!

Family Vineyard, Winery & Restaurant At Bodegas F. Rubio, we concive the taste of our wines from the vineyard; therefore, we take care of each wine grape and each grape cluster to obtain a unique wine, a wine with personality.
We first had their wine at Caesar's in Tijuana. It was so good we decided to find the winery. Well worth the effort. They have mastered their craft. The setting is beautiful and the wine is superb.
