Both owners have a passion for art which can be seen in the loving way they take care of their restaurant. The location is exquisite and the many paintings give a different but very great dining experience. We have been there a couple of times already and were always impressed with the food and the flair.
Great service and always a pleasure. See you again very soon!!

Good food, reasonable and fair prices (significantly cheaper than the Seabell Restaurant; this is why we don’t understand the indicated price level here at trip advisor).
We had a nice table with view on the street and ocean.
Service is nice, but not very individual (compared to the Seabell restaurant).
The main dishes were nicely made and taste was good.
However, we didn’t like the fruits flambés desserts.
Very kind: as a thank you and god bye drink they served us a complimentary vanilla rum.
Overall: good restaurant. We would go there again.

Sunny à la carte restaurant situated within the villa compound and set on a wooden deck with outstanding views of the ocean exudes a real tropical charm. Start with an exquisite glass of bubbly from our Champagne trolley and delight in a variety of creative preparations from the Mediterranean Sea while listening to the lapping of the Indian Ocean. Opening hours:19.00 - 23.30 (last order 21.30) Dress code: Gentlemen are required to wear trousers, long or short sleeved collared shirts (such as polo shirts and button down shirts) and appropriate footwear. Tailored shorts and Bermuda shorts are not permitted. Ladies are also asked to respect evening attire in line with the elegant atmosphere of the venue.
Quite good selection on the menu. Had a pasta as a starter. Very big portion for a starter. Went on with chicken. also great quality. Of course it's not exactly cheap, but spoil yourself at least one evening when you're in the hotel.

Lovely is the word. It covers the venue, its layout, atmosphere and views. It applies to the staff and their service and also the food on your plate. You can chose to go there instead of the buffet and carry an allowance towards your final bill when on half board. We ate there four times and the consistency of the restaurant each time was superb. Francois and his team in their immaculate show kitchen do an amazing job offering really tasting mostly European style cuisine with an eastern influence. Try the King Prawn sweet chilli dish, or the Sirloin Steak with creamy mash. Also they do a crab and garlic starter which is another winner. There is a good choice and much flexibility. Meat and fish always cooked to perfection. Mr Barlen after whom the restaurant is named has been at Le Touessrok for a long time (over 25 years) and can sometimes be still seen running the front of house here, always in a very friendly but professional way. His staff are also a credit to his style and the restaurant in general.
Its situated just down on the Frangipani beach front adjacent to the spa outside pool. There can sometimes be a slight refreshing breeze there which flows through the restaurant as it is open sided. Barlen`s is not just a restaurant where you can take lunch and dinner but you can eat and drink on high tables around the bar area during the day as well. Wherever you sit there is always a lovely atmosphere and in the evening the low lighting further adds to this. A must visit when staying at this hotel but do book it can get busy.

The Safran is part of the Shangri-La hotel and you knew it as you walked into the restaurant. We were staying up the road and to compare our hotels would be pointless! The meal was very good, the waiters discreet and helpful and the setting was fabulous. We chose a set menu where the starters and sweet were intriguing, beautifully prepared and tasted excellent but the main was fairly standard fair. It was my birthday and my wife had mentioned this to the restaurant so a birthday cake appeared along with a little tune. Embarrassed! Following the meal we sat in on some live music at the bar with a superb band of local musicians. A lovely and memorable evening made special by the surroundings and service.
Top tip there is a 10% voucher on the Safran website.

We enjoyed lunch here several times.
It was dark inside the restaurant, but food was good. I had seen many local people having lunch, that's a good sign. They have some kinds of food, Indian curry and snacks, mine frite, boulettes etc.
You can see a menu, but the prices of some meals were not displayed.
1 vegetarian meal cost around Rs 150, non veg around Rs 200, it depends on which curry you choose. I liked lamb curry and vegetable curry. And roti was good and fluffy.
Seemed like they have 2 kinds of food, pricey one for tourists and light cheap one for local people. If you are not so hungry, better ask for something light like a local.

We are staying at The Residence and found this restaurant offered better lunch options at a better price than our own hotel. Portions are large and there is a large selection of vegetarian food however more than one vegan option would be great! Very nice view and furniture. Service is good, our food came quickly and the staff were friendly enough. Only thing was that although the food is better than our own hotel some dishes are amazing whilst others are bland. Drinks are expensive but tasty.
Overall a good option if you’re nearby, we wish we had stayed in lux belle mare to make use of this place more!
