I was amazed to find this Trier, being a somewhat provincial city. I think the food is the least adapted for German tastes you’ll find in the city. Setting is lovely, both indoors and outdoors. Quite a bit of food choice, and a good selection of drinks. Service was a bit erratic, we waited some minutes before finally having our table pointed out to us.
You’d have to go to Luxembourg to find something comparable. You really need to book to ensure you get a table, and they don’t take cards of any type (cash only).

Opposite the Cathedral of Trier in the courtyard of the Palais Walderdorff is our restaurant. Modern stylish decor invites you to pleasurable stay. When fresh, regional, Mediterranean cuisine with quality products, we pamper you at the highest level. Qualified service and an extensive wine list with a focus on the Moselle and France completes the culinary evening. On weekends, we will entertain you with additional discreet piano music.
My husband and I ate here for our anniversary. The food was excellent and beautifully presented and even for a non-meat-eater like myself there was enough choice on the menu. The service was friendly and efficient. I really prefer to have the wine bottle on the table, rather than rely on the staff to keep topping up the glasses, but the waitress got it just right, not refilling too quickly but noticing when our glasses were nearly empty. I did get an amuse containing meat when I had indicated when booking that I didn't eat meat, but the waiter took it away and returned fairly quickly with a vegetarian alternative. The restaurant was busy and the tables were rather close together, but it didn't spoil the evening. I'd recommend this restaurant and would return if we are in Trier again.

Our food follows traditional recipies of Yongs mother. Everything we serve is made of fresh ingredients, the taste is improved with aromatic vietnamese herbs. Meanwhile our coconut curry soup became legendary to our customers, we offer a weekly changing soup, which is choosen from a variety of other traditional vietnamese noodle soups. We can also advise you to try our exotic salads and richly stuffed baguettes. In addition to our standart menue we offer special plates in smaller and larger sizes from wednesday to friday after 6 pm. This is Culinasia: MAMA YONG YONG porkbelly in coconutwater, stewed beef in coconutwater, fried shrimp in garlic sauce, MAMA YONG YONG sitting duck, fried octopus in ginger dressing, fried beef in wasabi dessing ... Selected wine of our Mosel region builds harmony with our Asian food. We can advise you to try another delicacy. For example the vietnamese coffee (ca phe), a strong filtercoffee with a slightly chocolate taste. You can order it whether bla
Since I first ate their Vietnamese soup, I keep coming back every week, I simply don't want to miss anything. I totally recommend their weekly soups, all of them are awesome. And in our neighbourhood (Trier-Luxembourg) this is the only place where you can get such a soup. I still keep comparing all the other Asian soups to the ones in Yong.... and the comparison has so far always been in their favour.

This is a great introduction to German food, with a largely English speaking staff, and English explanations on the menu. The food is very tasty and well presented. The restaurant is comfortable with plenty of Seating. Been there twice in the last couple of months and both times had a great experience.

Ok for a quick lunch. A couple of seats are available and take away is also possible. Soups are ok, but to our taste the cheese soup could have been spiced a bit more.

I am really in love with the swabian specialty that is spatzle (essentially a fresh pasta noodle) and i choose this restaurant based on that being on the menu. It was absolutely fantastic. Having had spatzle in multiple german cities +10 times, this was by...MoreThank your very much. We are together very, very happy!

This place felt great. Order a simple dish at the counter, choose from an excellent selection of rieslings, and find a table in this welcoming spot. My food was simple, high quality, and reasonably priced. Solid wines by glass or bottle. On the night I went, the place was full of a good mix of people working, socializing, or both. It was a comfortable place to sit and read while nursing an extra glass after eating. Not fancy, but it was just what I was looking for that night.

We were pleased to come across Oechsle Wein- & Fischhaus because it was the only fish restaurant we saw during our walk around Trier. Oechsle is not a fancy place, it looks like a crossing between a cafeteria and a fish mongers. The athmosphere is not very welcoming, all explanation is in German. Available dishes are advertised on small blackboards above the fish counter. You have to order and pay immediately to a rather impatient lady; the food is then brought to your table.
We found the choice of dishes very common and limited. Only later did we realise we probably could have ordered any fish on display. The real bonus of Oechsle is that it is also a wine house and has a very interesting choice of local wines at affordable prices.
We dined on pollock - called ‘Seelachs’ (‘sea salmon’) in Germany - and organic Irish mussels in a spicy vegetables-and-wine sauce, both served with chips. The pollock was ok, but the mussels were teeny tiny and dry, and had very little taste. Although the food was cheap, we can't recommend this place.

I have been looking forward to dine at The Brasserie. The menu online promised lots of regional delicacies. However, i never got the chance to enjoy them. I spent 15 minutes sitting at a table without being acknowledged or attended by one of the numerous waiters. I complained in vain since there was allegedly no manager on duty and none of the staff bothered to apologize.
