The 12th century was great for many forgotten things but in building cathedrals they excelled beyond comparison. In fact Reading the informative notes, i deduce that the vault hight in the choir was considered the 'skyscraper' of its day, at 157 feet.... and was the climax in France's upwardly aspiring Gothic architecture . Its easy to ogle the sculptures of past monarchies outside and inside there is a plethora of sinners and saints. While the crowds seemed excessive, i found just standing still near a solid pillar, better to appreciate the colour and soaring elements

When I was an intern in La Defense in Paris I joined this gym handing them my internship papers and another intern and I said to them we only wanted to join the gym for the duration of our internships - which was until June. There was a mady and a man there when we joined who assured us that we would only be charged until June of 2013 and then that would be the end of the contract automatically.
Now 2 years later, I find that they have not only not cancelled the contract, but that I was supposed to send them a regstered letter to cancel it. It's a common practice for these gyms to lie to expat clients and students, and this is one of the worst. That is the preoblem with discounted gyms - you get what you pay for! They are no better than capetbaggers or used car salesmen in the 80s.

Despite inside the castle there are less items/forniture than in other Castles, this building was built surrounding another medieval castle. In fact the so called "donjon" was built in medieval era on top of a cliff (falaise) and after during the Renaissance period it was built and renovated during the years the castle around the "donjon". During the WWII this castle was the headquarter of feldmarschal Rommel. The castle was freed in Aug 1944 by the USA troops. This castle has a nice view of the Senna River. Parking free but at around 400 m from the castle's entrance. Be aware that there are a lot of steps, including more than 250 to reach the "donjon" form the top of the first castle.

Handmade chocolates (you can see them upstairs making the goodies) and very friendly people. Family run. Mrs. Colas has a hot chocolate dispenser going all the time in cold weather for free hot chocolate.

If you are close to this monument, take ten minutes and stop in fornt of it with your car. One of the last remaining minuments of the city which was very much destroyed by the war.
