though it was empty when we visited and nothing like the picture above (no rain for several months). A spectacular sinkhole if there was one and well worth the trip if you are interested in karst geology. It is very difficult to find because there are no signs to show the way--use g°°°°emap.

Topana Fortress is situated just above Blue Lake (Modro Jezero) just outside of Imotski. Built in the 10 century, it was renamed Topana during the period of Ottoman occupation. The church of Our Lady of the angels within the fortress was built as a celebration of Imotski's liberation from the Turks. The views from the top of the fortress are extensive with views to the border with Bosnia. It is worth a visit, even if it is a distance from the coast. However, if visiting Međugorje in Bosnia, most buses go through Imotski or otherwise there is a bus service from Split. The layout of the fortress gives some idea as to the how the fortress appeared.

Basilica of Zmijavci is a small archeological site near Imotski, and as the name says it is located in a village Zmijavci. Basilica dates from the 6th century it is one of the finest early-Christian remains throughout Imotska Krajina. If You are traveling in the area, try to visit this site but my recommendation would be to contact local guides or Tourist office in Imotski to tell you some details and local stories..

This is one of the few remaining flood karst fields in Croatia. It is located at the north-eastern edge of the Imotski field. A flood area is formed during the high-water season, when Prolosko Lake is filled and flowing over its southern edge. In the swamp there is the Islet of Manastir with remains of the Franciscan Monastery from 17th century.
