Millennium project, pedestrian wooden bridge between Rapperswil and Hurden separating the lakes of Zurich, and the Obersee, constructed at the turn of the century, and inaugurated in April 2001. At about 920 yards, it is the longest wooden bridge in Switzerland (841 m) built on more than 200 supporting piles made of untreated oak with the expected lifetime of 50 to 70 years. Historically, it is a part of the Way of St. James, Jakobsweg or Via Jacobi in Switzerland, in between St Gallen and Einsiedeln Abbey. Scenic route offering beautiful panoramic views overs the lakes and surrounding Mountains, makes a nice walk from Pfaeffikon to Rapperswil.

Interesting little museum, free to enter (they hope you will buy some of the produce). All exhibits and explanations in German, so struggled to get all the meaning, plus some of the audio visual exhibits were not working - but for free, cannot complain

I watched partly the Summer Ski Jump World Cup races here. These huge sloped tobogas paved with artificial grass are where crazy athletes from all over the world meet to slide down and jump 90-100 m, like the winter analogue... Spectacular. On the web page you find the competition and training calendar, and it is well worth coming to look.

If you are a devotee of the divine feminine, or Mother Mary, in any of her guises, this is a sacred pilgrimmage place not to miss. The monastery is still active, and incredibly beautiful, but the main attraction is the Black Madonna chapel inside the monastery church. She has been a site of veneration for centuries, and the sacred atmosphere is tangible. Many people go to visit on pilgrimmage, but few stay long. It's worth spending a night or two, enjoying the quiet of vespers in the evening, and walking the alpine hills around the monastery. Lots of lovely shops and restaurants---tourist friendly without being too busy much of the time. Be sure to see the Lady's sacred horses and have a delicious meal. And don't miss the monks daily trip out to sing homage to the Lady with "Salve Regina" each afternoon around 430, it's exquisite!

The Werner Oechslin library should be the main attraction in the small Einsiedeln. First of all, the marvellous building designed by Mario Botta. But it's much more: it's a private library whose director believes that much people love books. So we can smell, touch, see all his treasures (by appointment, of course).
The interior decoration is fantastic as well: every wall, the ceilijng and the floor are connected with books and knowledge. I could spend a life there.
The beautiful building is in a beautiful garden, which is in a beautiful street of a small city. Almost a dreamy place.

Church, Abbey Library and DiaVision On this tour you will receive broad insight into the 1000 year old culture of the Benedictine abbey. Start of the tour: Daily at 14.00 o’clock at the tourism office (except Sundays and holidays), only in German, no enrollment.
The staff at the tourism office was very helpful and pointed out several hiking trails that looked very interesting. Also the postcards here are better than the ones available in the shops outside

The Diorama Bethlehem shows the Christmas story - from the announcement to the shepherds, the scene of the birth of Christ and the arrival of the three kings till the flight into Egypt - illustrated with over 450 wood-carved figures wearing oriental costumes in a realistic reproduction of the environs of Bethlehem
Amazing diorama I've ever seen. Their figurines like real one. Unfortunately they didn't put enough light on the right side of the diorama. Maybe it is better if there is any information about the figurines (who are they).
